NJSOP'S MISSION IS TO ADVOCATE, COMMUNICATE, AND EDUCATE TO ADVANCE THE OPTOMETRIC PROFESSION, WITH A VISION TO PROTECT AND IMPROVE HEALTH THROUGH VISION CARE. IN 2023, NJSOP HOSTED FOUR IN-PERSON CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND ONE VIRTUAL CONTINUING EDUCATION EVENT FOR CREDIT. WE HOSTED AN ONLINE LIBRARY OF CONTINUING EDUCATION RECORDINGS FOR CREDIT. WE HOSTED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WEBINARS AND SOCIAL EVENTS AND PROMOTED OUR MEMBERSHIP AND MEMBER BENEFITS TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS FOR RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT PURPOSES. WE SUPPORTED LEGISLATION TO MODERNIZE THE SCOPE OF PRACTICE FOR OPTOMETRISTS IN NEW JERSEY, WHICH WILL ALLOW OPTOMETRISTS TO HELP IMPROVE ACCESS TO CARE AND HEALTH EQUITY IN OUR STATE. WE DISTRIBUTED COMMUNICATIONS VIA VARIOUS MEDIA THAT EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR OPTOMETRISTS AND RISING OPTOMETRISTS. WE ENCOURAGE INDUSTRY AND DOCTOR RELATIONSHIPS, TO ENHANCE THE PRACTICE OF OPTOMETRY WITHIN NEW JERSEY.
