THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTERS OF PENNSYLVANIA (PENNCAC) SUPPORTS THE DELIVERY OF A COLLABORATIVE RESPONSE TO CHILD ABUSE CASES IN ALL COUNTIES IN THE STATE, PROVIDING TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, MENTORING, NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES, AND PEER REVIEW TO ASSIST IN DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINING OF CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTERS (CACS). CACS ENSURE A CHILD-FOCUSED, EVIDENCE-BASED, AND TRAUMA-INFORMED RESPONSE TO CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION, INVESTIGATION, AND INTERVENTION. PENNCAC UNDERTAKES COMMUNICATIONS ACTIVITIES ACROSS PRINT AND DIGITAL PLATFORMS TO PROVIDE COLLECTIVE PRESENCE AND COMMON MESSAGING FOR CACS; PROMOTES THE ROLE OF CACS TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS, MEDIA, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC; AND TO PROVIDES CITIZENS INFORMATION ON WHERE TO FIND THEIR LOCAL CAC AS WELL AS RESOURCES ON CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND REPORTING. PENNCAC SUPPORTS CACS TO BECOME ACCREDITED BY THE NATIONAL CHILDREN'S ALLIANCE (NCA), COMPLYING WITH STANDARDS THAT INCLUDE FORENSIC INTERVIEWING, VICTIM SERVICES, MEDICAL EVALUATIONS, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, CASE REVIEW AND CASE TRACKING, CULTURAL COMPETENCY, CHILD FRIENDLY FACILITY, ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY, AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORK IN CHILD ABUSE RESPONSES. FOR THE SHORT PERIOD ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2021, CACS IN PENNSYLVANIA SERVED 16,722 CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY PROVIDING 12,597 CHILD-FRIENDLY FORENSIC INTERVIEWS, 6,195 AGE-APPROPRIATE MEDICAL EXAMS, 8,262 REFERRALS FOR COUNSELING SERVICES, AND ONGOING VICTIM ADVOCACY SUPPORT.
