THE VISION OF THE AMERICAN BOARD OF ORIENTAL REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE (ABORM) IS TO WORK TOGETHER CLOSELY WITH OUR WESTERN COLLEAGUES IN THE FIELD OF REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE TO DEVELOP EVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENTS FOR OUR INFERTILITY PATIENTS THAT ENCOMPASS BOTH ACUPUNCTURE AND CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE.WITH THIS VISION IN MIND WE HOPE TO FORM ALLIANCES WITH THE PACIFIC COAST REPRODUCTIVE SOCIETY (PCRS) AND THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE (ASRM), IN ORDER TO BETTER SERVE OUR PATIENTS, AND THE PRACTITIONERS THAT MAKE UP OUR MEMBERSHIP.WE ENTHUSIASTICALLY ADVOCATE RESEARCH AS A TOOL TO MEASURE THE MOST BENEFICIAL METHODS THAT TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) MAY OFFER TO THE INFERTILE PATIENT POPULATION.WE FEEL THAT ORIENTAL MEDICINE (OM)/TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) IS A POWERFUL MEDICINE IN ITS OWN RIGHT WITH A LONG HISTORY OF TREATING REPRODUCTIVE DISORDERS, AND THAT INFERTILE PATIENTS WILL BENEFIT MOST FROM KNOWLEDGE OF, AND ACCESS TO BOTH MEDICINES - WESTERN AND OM.THE MISSION OF THE ABORM IS TO DEVELOP CORE COMPETENCIES AND MINIMUM STANDARDS THAT PRACTITIONERS WHO WORK IN THIS SUBSPECIALTY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE. THESE COMPETENCIES AND STANDARDS ARE CERTIFIED BY A BOARD EXAMINATION.THIS EXAMINATION MEASURES COMPETENCY IN THE SUBSPECIALTY OF ORIENTAL REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE, AND ENCOMPASSES KNOWLEDGE IN BOTH WESTERN AND TCM REPRODUCTIVE PHYSIOLOGY, PATHOLOGY, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT.ESTABLISHING A BOARD CERTIFICATION THAT MEASURES MINIMUM COMPETENCIES IN WESTERN AND TCM REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF OUR PROFESSION, WESTERN REPRODUCTIVE SPECIALISTS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE INFERTILE PATIENTS. WE LOOK FORWARD TO ABORM CERTIFIED FELLOWS (FABORM) LEADING THE WAY IN INTEGRATING OM WITH WESTERN ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUES (ART) BY ENCOURAGING RESEARCH, FELLOWSHIPS, AND SYMPOSIA DEVOTED TO THIS SUBSPECIALTY.THE ANNUAL BOARD EXAMINATION WAS NOT HELD DURING 2021 DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS.
