EDUCATION--HELPING HANDS FOR HAITI BUILT A NEW SCHOOL NEAR THE MISSION HOUSE THAT IS FREE TO ALL THAT ATTEND. THIS INCLUDES TUITION, UNFORMS, BOOKS, TESTING, AND HOT LUNCH MEALS. THE SCHOOL STRUCTUE HAS A SECURITY WALL AND INCLUDES CLASSROOMS FOR THE STUDENTS AS WELL AS TEACHER HOUSING AND HOUSING FOR SECURITY PERSONNEL. WE ALSO CONTINUE SUPPORTING SCHOOLS IN JUMELLE, PETITE RIVIERRE ARTIBONITE, SAVANE A ROCHES, LEPINA, AND THE DEAF SCHOOL IN VERRETTES.
AID TO THE POOR INCLUDING FOOD, HOUSING, AND MEDICAL CARE INCLUDING NEW HOMES. WHILE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF AID IS ADMINISTERED TO EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, HELPING HANDS FOR HAITI ALSO ADMINISTERS AID IN THE FORM OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO INCLUDE GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES TO HELP THEM HELP TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES. THIS INCLUDES RICE MILLS IN PETITE RIVIERRE AND LEPINA AS WELL AS NUMEROUS INDIVIDUAL GRANTS TO RENT LAND AND FOR SEED AND FERTILIZER AS WELL AS GRANTS FOR WOMEN TO ENTER A BUSINESS WHERE THEY BUY ITEMS IN BULK AND SELL THEM PIECEMEAL.
TUITION, BOOKS, COMPUTERS, AND OTHER FORMS OF AID TO EDUCATION BEYOND THE SCHOOLS WE SUPPORT. THIS INCLUDES SENDING STUDENTS TO PROFESSIONAL SCHOOLS SUCH AS NURSING AND COMPUTER CLASSES.
EXPENSES PAID BY TEAMS FOR TRAVEL AND OTHER EXPENSES RELATIVE TO VOLUNTEER WORK.
