THE SEA TOW FOUNDATION A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION - WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2007 TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO EDUCATION, TOOLS AND RESOURCES IN ORDER TO PROMOTE SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE BOATING. THROUGH THE FOUNDATION'S LIFE JACKET LOANER PROGRAM, MORE THAN 83,000 LIFE JACKETS ARE AVAILABLE TO BORROW AND RETURN FREE OF CHARGE TO PREVENT DROWNING AT OVER 950 LIFE JACKET LOANER STATIONS LOCATED ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. THE SEA TOW FOUNDATION'S SOBER SKIPPER CAMPAIGN AIMS TO ELIMINATE BOATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE ACCIDENTS BY ENCOURAGING BOATERS TO BE OR DESIGNATE A SOBER SKIPPER BEFORE EACH BOATING TRIP. SOBER SKIPPER CAMPAIGN CONTINUED TO FIND MORE GROUPS USING THE MATERIALS ACCROSS THE COUNTRY RESULTING IN OVER 100,000 PEOPLE WHO HAVE TAKEN THE SOBER SKIPPER PLEDGE TO DATE. RESEARCH CONDUCTED BY THE SEA TOW FOUNDATION SHOWS THAT MOST STATES DON'T HAVE FLARE DISPOSAL OPTIONS DUE TO HIGH COSTS TO MAINTAIN AND RUN THE PROGRAMS AND THE SEA TOW FOUNDATION WAS AWARDED A NEW GRANT TO HELP EDUCATE BOATERS ON THE EXISTENCE OF ELECTRONIC FLARES THAT CAN REPLACE THE MORE TYPICAL PYROTECHNIC FLARES.
