ABINGDON PHYSICIAN PARTNERS (APP) WAS CREATED TO AUGMENT JOHNSTON MEMORIAL HOSPITALS EXEMPT PURPOSE OF RESPONDING TO THE HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES IN ITS SERVICE AREA. TO PROMOTE THE GENERAL HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE COMMUNITIES SERVED, THE CORPORATION HAS MORE THAN 10 PRIMARY CARE, GENERAL SURGERY, ORTHOPEDIC, GYNECOLOGY, AND ONCOLOGY CLINICS.MULTIPLE APP CLINICS ALSO SERVE AS OUTPATIENT TEACHING LOCATIONS FOR FAMILY MEDICINE AND INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS. THE PRACTICES HAVE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY DURING A DIFFICULT YEAR. ALTHOUGH COVID-19 HAS DISRUPTED SCREENING SCHEDULES, PATIENTS HAVE CONTINUED TO PRESENT FOR CARE. THE USUALLY ROBUST CALENDAR OF SCREENINGS, HEALTH FAIRS, OUTREACH AND CELEBRATIONS HAVE BEEN POSTPONED OR PENDED AS APP HAS COMPLIED WITH COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS. DURING COVID-19, FREE FACE COVERINGS WERE PROVIDED TO PATIENTS TO HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS. PHYSICIANS ALSO PROVIDED TELEHEALTH SERVICES TO PATIENTS TO ENSURE THEY RECEIVED CARE IN THE SAFEST MANNER POSSIBLE.
