Part 3 - Line 4a
IEAS PURPOSE SHALL BE TO SET STANDARDS FOR COMPETITION; TO PROVIDE INFORMATION CONCERNING THE CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF EQUESTRIAN SPORT PROGRAMS; TO PROMOTE THE COMMON INTERESTS OF SAFE RIDING INSTRUCTION; AND TO EDUCATE ON MATTERS RELATED TO HORSEMANSHIP AT THE PRE-COLLEGIATE LEVEL. IEA SERVES RIDERS WHO ARE 18 AND UNDER BY OFFERING FINANCIAL AND GRANT PROGRAMS FOR EQUINE ATHLETICS.
INTERSCHOLASTIC EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION AIMS TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING, APPRECIATION, AND PARTICIPATION IN EQUESTRIAN SPORTS THROUGH ORGANIZED STUDENT COMPETITIONS AND ADDITIONAL EQUINE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. DURING FISCAL YEAR 20-21, OUR ORGANIZATION HOSTED 1173 SHOWS, WHICH WAS UP BY ALMOST 200 OVER THE PRIOR YEARS INTENDED SCHEDULE. WE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF SHOWS BUT DECREASED ALLOWABLE PARTICIPANTS TO ALLOW FOR COVID RESTRICTIONS AND RELATED SCHEDULING NEEDS. OUR MEMBERSHIP WAS DOWN SLIGHTLY TO 12,143 TOTAL MEMBERS DUE TO MANY SCHOOL-AFFILIATED PROGRAMS BEING RESTRICTED BECAUSE OF COVID. HOWEVER, ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT MEMBERSHIP WILL BACK TO FULL, PRIOR NUMBERS AS THE PANDEMIC RECEDES.
THE IEA CONTINUED EXPANSION OF NEW PROGRAMS IN 20.21. THE DRESSAGE PROGRAM GREW TO 936 RIDERS. THE IEA OFFERS PROGRAMMING IN THREE DISCIPLINES: DRESSAGE, WESTERN AND HUNT SEAT. THE IEAS INTRO RIDER PROGRAM GREW ADDITIONALLY WITH A TOTAL OF 1037 PARTICIPATING ACROSS THE THREE DISCIPLINES. THESE YOUNGER RIDERS WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL OF THE CLASS OFFERINGS WITHIN THE IEA BASED ON THEIR ABILITY LEVELS. THE IEA CONTINUES TO BE A SIGNIFICANT, INTRODUCTORY PROGRAM TO EQUESTRIAN PARTICIPATION, AND IT IS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO THE GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY OF EQUINE SPORTS.
