HIAWATHA ACADEMIES HAS ACHIEVED SIGNIFICANT OUTCOMES IN CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP FOR A GROWING COMMUNITY OF SCHOLARS THAT IS 98% STUDENTS OF COLOR AND 93% FREE/REDUCED LUNCH ELIGIBLE. RECENTLY, HIAWATHA ACADEMIES WAS FEATURED IN THE STAR TRIBUNE FOR "BEATING THE ODDS" AS ONE OF THE TOP URBAN SCHOOLS FOR ACADEMIC RESULTS IN THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA. HIAWATHA'S HISTORICALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS (ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS AND FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE LUNCH STUDENTS) OUTPERFORMED THEIR PEERS IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF MINNESOTA IN ALL GRADE LEVELS AND ALL SUBJECTS.HIAWATHA ACADEMIES IS PROVING THAT CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP, A TASK SOME SAY IS IMPOSSIBLE, IS INDEED POSSIBLE. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.THOUGH FROM TRADITIONALLY UNDERSERVED DEMOGRAPHIC GROUPS, 60-70% OF HIAWATHA SCHOLARS CONSISTENTLY SCORE PROFICIENT OR ADVANCED IN MATH COMPARED TO ROUGHLY 50% OF ALL STUDENTS IN THE LOCAL DISTRICT AND 20% OF STUDENTS IN SIMILAR HIGH FRL SCHOOLS. IN READING, ROUGHLY 45% OF HIAWATHA SCHOLARS ARE PROFICIENT OR ADVANCED COMPARED TO 40% OF DISTRICT STUDENTS AND ONLY 15% OF STUDENTS IN SIMILAR HIGH FRL SCHOOLS.DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDING IN 2022, 1,506 STUDENTS WERE SERVED.
