PUBLICATION OF A 2 PAGE NEWSLETTER CONTAINING INFORMATION TO UPDATE MEMBERSHIP ON INITIATIVES UNDERTAKEN BY THE ORGANIZATION. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF NEWSLETTERS MAILED TO MEMBERS IS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MEMBERS EACH QUARTER.
TO PROMOTE PASSAGE OF FEDERAL AND STATE LEGISLATION TO PROTECT BY LAW RETIREES HEALTH CARE BENEFITS AND PENSION SECURITY. CURRENTLY LEGISLATION HAS BEEN PASSED OR IS PENDING IN VIRGINIA, MASSACHUSETTS, CONNECTICUT, NEW YORK AND PENNSYLVANIA.
ACTIONS REQUIRED TO PROMOTE THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF THE PENSION FUNDS OF RETIREES SUBJECT TO DE-RISKING. DE-RISKING STRATEGY ALLOWS CORPORATIONS TO MOVE RETIREES PENSION PLAN ASSETS INTO INSURANCE COMPANY ANNUITIES. THIS STRATEGY EFFECTIVELY DEPRIVES RETIREES OF THE PROTECTIONS OF ERISA AND THE PENSION BENEFIT GUARANTEE CORPORATION, UNDER WHOSE LEGAL UMBRELLA THEY RESIDED DURING THE YEARS IN WHICH THESE BENEFITS WERE EARNED.
THIS PROGRAM IN CONJUNCTION WITH 1800MD OFFERS SENIORS WHO JOIN THE ABILITY TO DISCUSS AND OBTAIN CARE FOR COMMON HEALTH CARE CONCERNS. ALL MEDICAL SERVICES ARE OFFERED THROUGH 1800MD PROFESSIONALS. THIS PROGRAM WAS INITIATED AS A WAY TO PROVIDE SENIORS WITH OTHER MEDICAL OPTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME RAISE MONEY FOR THE OTHER GOOD WORKS OF THE ORGANIZATION. IN 2017 SEVERAL MEMBERS HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE SERVICE.
