THE CHICANOS POR LA CAUSA TUCSON FOUNDATION SOLICITS DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUAL, CORPORATE AND INSTITUTIONAL DONORS AND SEEKS TO PROVIDE AID AND SUPPORT BY ASSISTING WITH GIFTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO BE SOLICITED EXTERNALLY AND PROVIDE EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF CHICANOS POR LA CAUSA, INC. IN SOUTHERN ARIZONA. CHICANOS POR LA CAUSA, INC. IS A HIGHLY REGARDED, NATIONWIDE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION DEDICATED TO BUILDING STRONGER, HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES. IN SOUTHERN ARIZONA, CPLC STRIVES TO HELP MITIGATE THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO POVERTY, SUBSTANDARD LIVING CONDITIONS, UNEMPLOYMENT, AND ILLITERACY IN OUR COMMUNITIES. CPLC PROVIDES HOUSING, EDUCATION AND YOUTH MENTORING SERVICES TO THE DISADVANTAGED REGARDLESS OF ETHNICITY, NATIONALITY, RACE, GENDER, AGE, POLITICAL VIEWS, RELIGION, DISABILITY, MARITAL STATUS, OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. CPLC OFFERS ITS SERVICES TO THOSE WHO ARE MOST IN NEED. CPLC WAS ORIGINALLY FOUNDED IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA BY A GROUP OF PROGRESSIVE YOUNG HISPANIC LEADERS INTERESTED IN PROVIDING GREATER SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES TO THOSE IN THEIR COMMUNITY WHOSE NEEDS WERE MOST ACUTE. IN ORDER TO MORE EFFECTIVELY SERVE SOUTHERN ARIZONA, CPLC ESTABLISHED AN OFFICE IN TUCSON IN 1980. SINCE THEN THE SERVICES IN TUCSON HAVE PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION AND YOUTH. CPLC'S HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS INCLUDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONSTRUCTION FOR LOW-INCOME AND MODERATE-INCOME FAMILIES WHO ARE IN ACUTE NEED OF HOUSING ASSISTANCE WITH HOME PURCHASING COUNSELING, HOUSING, DEBT AND FORECLOSURE COUNSELING AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE. CPLC'S EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROVIDE HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION FOR AT-RISK STUDENTS, DROPOUT PREVENTION SERVICES AND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS. CPLC'S YOUTH SERVICES OFFER MENTORING, TUTORING AND YOUTH LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AND HIV AND AIDS EDUCATION AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS.
