TO ADVANCE THE SAFETY, SECURITY, AND WELL-BEING OF LOUISIANA'S LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES BY MAKING AVAILABLE APPROPRIATE SAFETY DEVICES AND/OR TRAINING FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL, TO THE EXTENT THAT LOCAL GOVERNMENT IS UNABLE TO MEET THOSE NEEDS, THEREBY ALSO HAVING THE EFFECT OF LESSENING THE BURDENS OF GOVERNMENT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PLANS TO PROVIDE LEGAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO NEEDY LOUISIANA LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, CONNECTED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR OFFICIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; AND TO PROVIDE CERTAIN DEATH OR OTHER BENEFITS TO THE SURVIVING FAMILIES OF THOSE LOUISIANA LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WHO HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM: PROVIDES FUNDING FOR A DISASTER RELIEF TEAM ALONG WITH THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR RESPONSE TO NATURAL OR MAN MADE DISASTERS AS THEY OCCUR. THE RELIEF TEAM ESTABLISHES A WORKING CAMP TO SUPPLY DEBRIS CLEANING, CLOTHING, FOOD, AND SHELTER TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AFFECTED AS A RESULT OF NATURAL OR MAN MADE DISASTERS.


EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM FUNDS LAW ENFORCEMENT AND RELATED TRAINING THROUGH SPONSORSHIP AND PRESENTATION OF TRAINING PROGRAMS AND PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS AND/OR TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR ATTENDANCE AT LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING PROGRAMS. THE FOUNDATION OFFERS UP TO THIRTY-FIVE $500 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS.
