THE MERIDIAN FOOD BANK'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE FOOD AID TO LOW INCOME PEOPLE.

WE PROVIDE FOOD BASKETS TO OUR NEIGHBORS WHO SEEK EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE. AS MERIDIAN HAS GROWN AND OUR ECONOMY HAS FACED CHALLENGES, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE SEEKING OUR HELP HAS RISEN DRAMATICALLY. IN 2021 WE DISTRIBUTED 12,870 FOOD BASKETS SERVING 34,774 INDIVIDUALS WITH 964,926 POUNDS OF FOOD.
THE MERIDIAN FOOD BANK PARTNERS WITH THE YOUTH GROUP OF VALLEY SHEPHERD CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE TO PROVIDE CHILDREN IN THE FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM FROM THE MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH BACKPACKS OF FOOD. EACH BACKPACK CONTAINS SIX MEALS AND TWO SNACKS FOR THE WEEKEND. BACKPACKS WITH FOOD ARE DELIVERED BY VOLUNTEERS TO PREDETERMINED SCHOOLS ON FRIDAYS, AND THE EMPTY BACKPACKS ARE RETURNED TO THE SCHOOLS ON MONDAYS TO BE REFILLED. IN 2021 17,373 FOOD PACKS WERE DELIVERED TO OVER 334 CHILDREN ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
