THE ISANTI COUNTY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY, INC. IS ORGANIZED TO PROMOTE AND PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL AND AGRICULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PUBLIC.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
THE ORGANIZATION'S GREATEST OPPORTUNITY TO EDUCATE, INTERACT AND SOCIALIZE WITH THE PUBLIC IS THROUGH THE COUNTY FAIR WHERE 23,700 WERE IN ATTENDANCE. AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IS SHOWCASED, INCLUDING CROPS AND LIVESTOCK. FUNCTIONAL HOME AND FARM ITEMS INCLUDING CREATIVE DECORATIVE ITEMS, FOOD AND PRESERVED FOODS ARE ALSO EXHIBITED. EXHIBITORS AND 4H EXHIBITORS RECEIVE AWARDS AND PREMIUM CHECKS. EDUCATIONAL DEMONSTRATIONS AND FREE ENTERTAINMENT ARE ATTENDED BY BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS. KIDS' DAY IS A VERY POPULAR EVENT WITH MANY ATTRACTIONS, AND IS A BIG HIT WITH PRESCHOOLERS AND DAYCARE PROVIDERS. SPECIAL PROGRAMS FOR SENIORS' DAY ARE WELL ATTENDED. SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS AND OTHER 501C3 ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE GRANT MONEY FOR ASSISTING IN THIS LARGE EVENT.
THE ORGANIZATION SHOWCASES THE AGRICULTURAL AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES OF THE LOCAL 4-H MEMBERS. A BUILDING IS PROVIDED THAT INCLUDES AN EXHIBIT AREA FOR CREATIVE ACTIVITIES, ARTS, CRAFTS, A STAGE FOR FASHION REVIEW, AND A SNACK BAR. DURING THE FAIR, 8 BUILDINGS AND 2 ARENAS ARE PROVIDED TO THE 4-H PROGRAM TO SHOW THEIR LIVESTOCK AND HORSE EXHIBITS. 432 MEMBERS EXHIBITED 4331 PROJECTS AT THE FAIR THIS YEAR. PREMIUM AWARD CHECKS WERE GIVEN FOR THOSE EXHIBITING. THE 4-H DOG PROGRAM USES THE GROUNDS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS FOR THEIR TRAINING SESSIONS. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO MAKE THE FAIRGROUNDS AVAILABLE TO THE 4-H PROGRAM DURING THE ENTIRE YEAR FOR CLINICS AND TRAINING. THE ORGANIZATION HAS MEETINGS INCLUDING THEIR ANNUAL MEETING TO INFORM MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS WELL AS CONTINUE TO PERFORM THE REQUIRED GENERAL FUNCTIONS NEEDED DURING THE ENTIRE YEAR.
THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO MAKE THE BUILDINGS AND FAIRGROUNDS AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY AT A REASONABLE COST FOR BOTH COMMUNITY AND FAMILY EVENTS. ACTIVITIES CARRIED ON DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ON THE GROUNDS WERE ATV & SNOWMOBILE TRAINING, A DOG SHOW, 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS. OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE CAMBRIDGE FOOD SHELF DISTRIBUTION, MN DEER HUNTERS COLLECTION OF "HIDES FOR HABITATX AND GUN TRAINING, AND THE FRANKENSTEINERS CAR CLUB HELD A CAR SHOW. THE FAIRGROUNDS WERE ALSO USED FOR WEDDING CEREMONIES AND GRADUATION PARTIES WHEN APPROPRIATE.
