DAVIS SCHOOLS ORCHESTRAL MUSIC ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN THE DAVIS JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BY FOSTERING THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORCHESTRAL MUSIC PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS PERFORMANCE TOURS, PROVIDES MUSIC EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR VARIOUS STUDENTS AND PRESENTS OUTREACH CONCERTS TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND OUTREACH TO YOUNGER STUDENTS ON THE BEAUTY OF ORCHESTRAL MUSIC.

THE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM INCLUDES A CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, A BAROQUE ENSEMBLE AND A SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IS ONE OF THE BEST ORCHESTRAS IN THE STATE AND RECEIVED AWARDS AND SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR THEIR MUSICIANSHIP AND HIGH LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE. IN JUNE 2017 THE STUDENTS OF THE BAROQUE ENSEMBLE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT HISTORIC CATHEDRALS, PERFORMED IN 14 VENUES THROUGHOUT AUSTRIA AND ITALY, TOOK A MASTER CLASS, GOT TO VISIT THE STRADIVARIUS MUSEUM AND THE BIRTHPLACE OF BAROQUE MUSIC.
INSTRUMENTS AND GENERAL PROGRAM- THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS THE MUSIC EDUCATION OFFERED AT THE HIGH SCHOOL,THE THREE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS AND EIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THE DAVIS HOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. OVER 300 STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM LOCALLY AND IN REGIONAL AND NATIONAL COMPETITIONS YEAR-ROUND. IN ADDITION THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES INSTRUMENTS, INSTRUMENT REPAIRS, AND NEW STRINGS FOR ALL OF THE SCHOOLS IN THE DAVIS JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT.
OUTREACH - THE DAVIS HIGH SCHOOL SYMPHONY OUTREACH CONCERT PROGRAM INCLUDED PERFORMANCE OF PINOCCHIO IN FEBRUARY 2017. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE OUTREACH CONCERTS IS TO INSPIRE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS, AND TO RAISE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND SUPPORT FOR DAVIS SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS.THE ELEMENTARY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE AN INTEREST IN ORCHESTRA MUSIC AND PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT. JUNIOR HIGH ORCHESTRA STUDENTS PRESENT WORKSHOPS TO ENCOURAGE GRADE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO JOIN THE ORCHESTRA. APPROXIMATELY 260 JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS AND 160 GRADE SCHOOL STUDENTS PERFORMED TOGETHER AT THE END OF THE DAY.260 JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS ALSO PERFORMED AT THE EIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS FOR APPROXIMATELY 3,500 SUTUDENTS TO ENCOURAGE THEIR INTEREST IN STUDYING MUSIC.165 JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS ALSO PERFORMED NINE CONCERTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 3,500 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS TO ENCOURAGE THEIR INTEREST IN STUDYING MUSIC.
