AUTISM DELAWARE SUPPORTS DELAWAREANS AFFECTED BY AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS BY RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS, ADVOCATING FOR NEEDED POLICIES AND PRACTICES WITHIN THE STATE AND OFFERING A WIDE RANGE OF FAMILY SUPPORT ACTIVITIES. THE ORGANIZATION HOLDS APPROXIMATELY 150 SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL AND SUPPORT EVENTS FOR FAMILIES EACH YEAR AND FIELDS APPROXIMATELY 5,000 PARENT CONTACTS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. DUE TO COVID-19, AUTISM DELAWARE HAD NO EVENTS DURING 20-21 FISCAL YEAR.
AUTISM DELAWARE'S PRODUCTIVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORK AND RECREATION [POW&R] ADULT VOCATIONAL SERVICES PROVIDES ENTIRELY INDIVIDUALIZED, COMMUNITY-BASED VOCATIONAL SERVICES FOR ADULTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER. MORE THAN 160 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATE IN POW&R THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF DELAWARE AND ENGAGE IN PAID EMPLOYMENT, VOLUNTEER, AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES, VOCATIONAL LEARNING EXPERIENCES, AND RECREATIONAL OPTIONS.
