Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES OPERATION EXODUS USA (OEUSA) PURSUES IN ORDER TO FULFILL ITS CHARITABLE HUMANITARIAN MISSION INCLUDE FACILITATING EMIGRATION OF NEEDY AND PERSECUTED JEWISH PERSONS FROM THE FORMER SOVIET UNION AND ELSEWHERE TO ISRAEL. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS MISSION OEUSA CONDUCTS PROGRAMS TO INFORM BOTH THE JEWISH COMMUNITY AND CHRISTIANS IN THE US ABOUT THE JEWISH RELIGION, JEWISH HISTORY, CULTURE, AND HERITAGE. THIS EDUCATION INCLUDES INFORMATION ABOUT PERSECUTION OF JEWISH PEOPLE IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION AND ELSEWHERE AND THE URGENCY OF ASSISTING THEM. THE FINANCIAL INFORMATION NECESSARY TO PREPARE THE ORGANIZATION'S 2021 FORM 990 WAS GATHERED THROUGHOUT 2021 BY ACCOUNTING STAFF AND THEN VERIFIED BY ITS TREASURER. FISCAL REPORTS, INCLUDING PROFIT AND LOSS STATEMENTS, BALANCE SHEETS, AND BUDGET PROJECTIONS WERE DISTRIBUTED QUARTERLY AND REVIEWED AND ADOPTED BY THE ORGANIZATION'S BOARD AT BOARD MEETINGS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2021, OEUSA PRESENTED FREE EDUCATIONAL EVENTS FOR THE PUBLIC THROUGHOUT THE US ABOUT THE URGENCY OF ASSISTING JEWISH PEOPLE TO EMIGRATE TO ISRAEL. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, OEUSA'S 10 STAFF AND 56 VOLUNTEERS WORKED TO EDUCATE THE US PUBLIC ABOUT JEWISH PERSONS SUFFERING PERSECUTION IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION (FSU) AND ELSEWHERE, INCLUDING IN THE US. OEUSA ALSO WORKED TO EDUCATE BOTH CHRISTIANS AND THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN THE US ABOUT THE JEWISH RELIGION, JEWISH HISTORY, CULTURE, AND HERITAGE. IN 2021, OEUSA'S 845 PRAYER INTERCESSORS (PRAYER PARTNERS) PROVIDED VITAL SPIRITUAL SUPPORT FOR OEUSA. FURTHER, OEUSA PROVIDED UPDATES ON ITS EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO 367 CHURCHES AND 3356 INDIVIDUAL SUPPORTERS. IN ADDITION, A MEMBER OF OEUSA'S BOARD MET WITH THE BOARD OF EBENEZER EMERGENCY FUND INTERNATIONAL, IN INDIA AND ISRAEL. THESE MEETINGS ENABLED OEUSA AND EBENEZER EMERGENCY FUND INTERNATIONAL TO DISCUSS SIMILAR ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY EACH ORGANIZATION TO ASSIST DISTRESSED JEWISH PERSONS IN THE FSU. IN ORDER TO SUPPORT ITS ACTIVITIES, OEUSA MAINTAINED OFFICES IN THE US LOCATED IN NEW YORK CITY AND OEUSA'S HEADQUARTERS IN LANCASTER, NEW YORK. OEUSA IS A MEMBER OF THE EVANGELICAL COUNCIL FOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY (EFCA).
DURING 2021, OEUSA ASSISTED 691 DISTRESSED AND PERSECUTED JEWISH PEOPLE FROM THE US TO EMIGRATE TO ISRAEL (MAKE ALIYAH). IN PROVIDING RELIEF TO DISTRESSED JEWISH PEOPLE WHO ARE SEEKING TO MAKE ALIYAH TO ISRAEL, OEUSA IS SUPPORTING THE LONG HELD BELIEFS OF JEWISH PEOPLE WHO ARE CLAIMING THEIR RIGHT TO FREELY EXERCISE THEIR RELIGION. OEUSA ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT TO JEWISH YOUTH THROUGH MITZVAH PROJECTS.
DURING 2021, OEUSA PROVIDED FUNDING FOR HUMANITARIAN RELIEF TO JEWISH PEOPLE, INCLUDING POVERTY-STRICKEN AND PERSECUTED JEWS LIVING IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION (FSU). THIS FUNDING FOR JEWISH PEOPLE WAS PROVIDED THROUGH EBENEZER EMERGENCY FUND INTERNATIONAL (EEFI) UNDER A WRITTEN CONTRACT ALLOWING OEUSA TO EXERCISE CONTROL AND DISCRETION OF THE FUNDING. THIS FUNDING ALLOWED 6,367 JEWISH PEOPLE LIVING IN THE FSU TO EMIGRATE TO THEIR HISTORIC HOMELAND OF ISRAEL. FUNDS PROVIDED BY OEUSA TO EEFI ALSO ALLOWED EEFI TO MAINTAIN 50 STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS AT 12 BASES IN THE FSU, WHICH, IN TURN, ENABLED EEFI TO CONDUCT THE FOLLOWING CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES. SPECIFICALLY, OEUSA'S FUNDING TO EEFI ALLOWED EEFI TO PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN RELIEF TO 4,310 POVERTY-STRICKEN AND PERSECUTED JEWISH FAMILIES IN THE FSU. IN ADDITION, OEUSA'S FUNDING TO EEFI MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR EEFI TO PROVIDE 2,677 JEWISH FAMILIES WITH EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS ABOUT EEFI'S PROGRAM TO AID PERSECUTED AND POVERTY-STRICKEN JEWISH PEOPLE IN RETURNING TO THEIR HISTORIC HOMELAND OF ISRAEL. OEUSA'S GRANT FUNDING ALSO MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR EEFI'S STAFF TO PROVIDE 1,351 CARE PACKAGES OF FOOD AND OTHER ESSENTIALS TO POOR AND ISOLATED JEWISH AND NON-JEWISH FAMILIES IN THE FSU. IN ADDITION, OEUSA'S GRANT FUNDING ALLOWED EEFI TO MAKE 724 EDUCATIONAL VISITS TO CHURCHES IN THE FSU TO DESCRIBE EEJI'S PROGRAM TO ASSIST PERSECUTED AND NEEDY JEWISH PEOPLE TO EMIGRATE TO ISRAEL
