LEADERSHIP SOUTHCOAST SERVES ITS MISSION THROUGH MULTIPLE PROGRAMS. ITS FLAGSHIP ANNUAL COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM, LEAD SOUTHCOAST, IS THE ONLY OF ITS KIND IN THE REGION. IT IS A 10 MONTH INTENSIVE THAT FOCUSES ON TOPIC AREAS WHICH INCLUDE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, BASIC NEEDS, PUBLIC HEALTH, ARTS & CULTURE, GOVERNMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, EDUCATION, CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND RACIAL JUSTICE & SOCIAL EQUITY. THE MAIN GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PREPARE REPRESENTATIVE EMERGING LEADERS TO STEP INTO COMMUNITY WORK INFORMED, ENGAGED AND READY TO SEEK SOLUTIONS.AN INCLUSIVE COHORT OF 30 -35 PEOPLE OF VARYING BACKGROUNDS COME TOGETHER TO LEARN ABOUT THE REGION. THE COHORT DRAWS FROM OVER 25 ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE REGION FROM THE NONPROFIT, PRIVATE, AND PUBLIC SECTORS. THE PROGRAM./ORGANIZATION WAS PUT ON HIATUS DURING THE PANDEMIC. LSC RELAUNCHED IN JANUARY 2022 AND GRADUATED ITS FIRST POST-PANDEMIC COHORT OF 29 PEOPLE REPRESENTING 25 ORGANIZATIONS IN JUNE 2023.THE ORGANIZATION IS PILOTING A NEW COMPONENT OF THE LEAD SOUTHCOAST PROGRAM THIS FALL, BOARD FELLOWSHIP. THIS IS INTENDED TO CREATE A PIPELINE OF LEADERS DIRECTLY TO BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. LSC IS ALSO PILOTING COLLEGE LEAD SOCO WHICH WILL CREATE A PIPELINE OF FIRST GENERATION AND BIPOC COLLEGE STUDENTS INTO LARGE HIRING ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE REGION. THIS PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO END THE BRAIN DRAIN AND KEEP OUR EMERGING, EDUCATED PROFESSIONALS ON THE SOUTH COAST WHERE THEY CAN START AND GROW A CAREER.
