PROGRAMSWE ENGAGED IN THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS IN 2018:CAPA21 ACTION FUND - ADVANCES PROGRESSIVE AAPI POLITICAL EMPOWERMENT TO REALIZE A VISION FOR OUR COUNTRY WHERE AAPIS HAVE A POWERFUL PRESENCE AND ROLE IN ALL BRANCHES AND LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS, ACHIEVED THROUGH AAPI VOTERS WHO ARE ENGAGED, INFORMED, AND EMPOWERED.AAPIS RESIST COALITION - A COALITION OF MORE THAN 225 ORGANIZATIONS AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING CAPA21 ACTION, SEEKING TO MOBILIZE THE RESISTANCE WITHIN OUR AAPI COMMUNITIES AND BETWEEN AAPIS AND OTHER COMMUNITIES OF COLOR. THE COALITION WILL SHARE INFORMATION, AMPLIFY MEMBERS ACTIVITIES, AND PROVIDE RESOURCES. APAP STAFF SERVE ON THE STEERING COMMITTEE AND DEVELOPED THE COALITIONS WEBSITE. EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES TO ELEVATE AAPIS RESIST INTO A MORE POWERFUL COALITION BY LEVERAGING THE 225+ ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERS. EXPLORE HOW TO SUPPORT THE COALITION AND ASSESS PROGRAMS SUCH AS A NATIONAL ACTION ALERT NETWORK, TRAINING FOR THE COALITIONS SMALLER MEMBERS, AND POTENTIAL LIVE GATHERINGS HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH EXISTING CONFERENCES.GSF POLITICAL IMPACT GRANTS DEVELOPED AND LAUNCHED GSF POLITICAL IMPACT GRANT PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE ADVANCING AAPI POLITICAL EMPOWERMENT OR ARE ENGAGED IN MAXIMIZING THE ELECTORAL IMPACT OF ASIAN AMERICANS AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS IN THE 2018 ELECTION CYCLE. THE GRANTS WILL FOCUS ON INDIVIDUALS MAKING A DEMONSTRABLE POLITICAL IMPACT WHO: (1) HAVE A TRACK RECORD OF ADVANCING WOMEN, AND/OR PACIFIC ISLANDERS, FILIPINOS, SOUTHEAST ASIANS, OR OTHER UNDER-REPRESENTED AAPI ETHNIC GROUPS; (2) HAVE ASSESSED EXISTING AND PLANNED EFFORTS BY AAPI POLITICAL AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS AND IDENTIFIED AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY OR UNMET NEEDS; AND (3) HAVE LEVERAGED DATA ON THE AAPI ELECTORATE INTO A STRATEGY FOR ELECTORAL SUCCESS.AAPI SWING INITIATIVE DEVELOPED STRATEGIES ON HOW TO DEVELOP SHORT TERM FUNDING FOR VIABLE PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES AND A LONG-TERM POLITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR AAPIS IN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WHERE AAPIS CAN PLAY SWING VOTING ROLES. GOAL IS TO DEVELOP A TEMPLATE BY FIRST FOCUSING ON ONE REGION AND THEN REPLICATE INTO OTHER REGIONS. EVERY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CYCLE PUTS THE SPOTLIGHT ON THESE SWING REGIONS WHERE AAPIS CAN IMPACT THE OUTCOME IN THE PRIMARIES AND THE GENERAL, BUT EVERY FOUR YEARS, THE WHEEL NEEDS TO BE REINVENTED WITH NEW CAMPAIGN ORGANIZERS, NEW OUTREACH.
