OUR PROGRAMS SUPPORT JOB SKILLS TRAINING FOR VULNERABLE YOUTH IMPACTED BY HIV/AIDS, SUPPORT FOR GRASSROOTS ENTREPRENEURS' PROPERTY RIGHTS, STRENGTHEN AWARENESS ABOUT THE RIGHT TO PRIVACY, AND DIGITAL SECURITY TRAINING FOR HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS.

POVERTY AND HUMAN RIGHTS: IN 2022, GLOBAL FRIENDS SUPPORTED TRAINING FOR 120 PARTICIPANTS ON PROPERTY RIGHTS PROTECTION STRATEGIES, 70 OF WHOM WERE WOMEN. GFIA ALSO CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE COORDINATION OF LEGAL SEMINARS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF MATERIALS AIMED AT ADDRESSING THE IMPACT OF POVERTY REDUCTION MEASURES ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN ASIA. SPECIFICALLY, IMPLEMENTERS FOCUSED ON ISSUES LIKE FORCED RELOCATION, WOMEN'S PROPERTY RIGHTS, AND INFORMAL VENDORS' RIGHTS.DIGITAL SECURITY AND PRIVACY RIGHTS: IN 2022, GFIA SUPPORTED DIGITAL SECURITY TRAINING FOR MORE THAN 200 CIVIL SOCIETY REPRESENTATIVES IN ASIA. IN ADDITION, WE CONTINUED TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE RIGHT TO PRIVACY THROUGH DISSEMINATING ARTICLES OVER SOCIAL MEDIA AND COORDINATING STAKEHOLDER DISCUSSIONS ON EMERGING ISSUES. DURING THE LATTER PART OF THE YEAR, THE PROJECT CENTERED ON HOW VULNERABLE GROUPS OFTEN EXPERIENCE A MORE ACUTE LACK OF PRIVACY.


YOUTH JOB SKILLS TRAINING: GFIA SUPPORTED 128 STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN A COMBINED CLASSROOM AND APPRENTICESHIP JOB SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM. A MAJORITY OF STUDENTS (55%) WERE FEMALE, WITH A 27% INCREASE IN MALE PARTICIPANTS AS THE PROGRAM BECOMES MORE POPULAR WITH YOUNG MEN. THE CURRICULUM INCLUDES FOOD PREPARATION, COMPUTER BASICS, COMMUNICATIONS, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS, AND A MAJORITY OF STUDENTS CONTINUE TO FIND EMPLOYMENT, INCLUDING IN HOTELS, LODGES, RESTAURANTS, OR IN THEIR OWN BUSINESSES, SHORTLY AFTER COMPLETING THE PROGRAM.
