IN 2022, BELLEVUE FARMERS MARKET (BFM) CONTINUED OUR LEGACY OF CREATING A MARKETPLACE TO CONNECT FARMERS AND SMALL FOOD BUSINESSES WITH OUR COMMUNITY MEMBER. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2019, WE WERE ABLE TO RESUME A FULL SEASON OF ACTIVITY ON-SITE AFTER LIMITATIONS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WE HAD OVER 27,000 CUSTOMER VISITS AND OVER $840,000 SPENT AND RETURNED INTO THE LOCAL ECONOMY. PRODUCE AT MARKET TRAVELED AN AVERAGE OF 74 MILES FROM FARM TO BFM (COMPARED TO 1,500 MILES FOR FOOD AT TRADITIONAL RETAILERS), THEREBY REDUCING CUSTOMERS' CARBON FOOTPRINTS.BFM PLAYS AN ESSENTIAL ROLE IN PROVIDING ACCESS TO HEALTHY, FRESH PRODUCE TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY.
