MPA WORKS TO ESTABLISH BEST PRACTICES AND IMPROVE STANDARDS OF CARE FOR ANIMAL WELFARE FOR MICHIGAN SHELTERS, HOME-BASED RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS AND PET OWNERS WHILE ALSO WORKING TO ELIMINATE CRUELTY AND NEGLECT. TO ACHIEVE THIS WORK, MPA PRODUCES A SEMI-ANNUAL STATE-WIDE CONFERENCE WHICH INCLUDES NATIONAL EXPERTS AND CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH; PRODUCES ON-LINE WEBINARS AND ROUNDTABLES; PROVIDES ON-LINE AND IN-SHELTER HANDS-ON TRAINING; ASSISTS SHELTERS IN THE OPTIMIZATION OF THEIR PROGRAMS AND ANIMAL CARE THROUGH THE BLUEPRINT FOR EXCELLENCE PROGRAM; PRODUCES AN ANNUAL AWARDS AND GRANT PROGRAM; PREPARES AN ANNUAL MICHIGAN LIVE RELEASE RATE REPORT; PRODUCES POSITION STATEMENTS ON A VARIETY OF ISSUES/TOPICS; ADVOCATES FOR THE PASSAGE OF NEW LAWS; AND COMMUNICATES THROUGH TWO MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS AND SOCIAL MEDIA.
