VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT - OUR GOAL IS TO CREATE AND TRAIN A TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE OF CANINE AND FELINE BODY LANGUAGE, ADEPT AT HANDLING ANIMALS IN THE MOST HUMANE WAY, PRACTICE SCIENCE BASED TRAINING METHODS AND WHO ARE ADVOCATES FOR THE CITY OF DETROIT, ITS CITIZENS AND ALL ANIMALS. WE RELY ON VOLUNTEERS TO HELP PROVIDE ENRICHMENT TO THE ANIMALS, ASSIST THE STAFF WITH DAILY OPERATIONS AND INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC TO HELP IN THE ADOPTION OF SHELTERED ANIMALS.
LIVE RELEASE OF SHELTERED ANIMALS - WE STRIVE TO SAVE AS MANY ANIMALS AS POSSIBLE. FRIENDS OF DETROIT ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL WORKS WITH DETROIT ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL TO IMPROVE THEIR ADOPTION AND FOSTER PROGRAM, TRANSFER AND TRANSPORT PROGRAMS. THE GOAL IS TO HOST OFFSITE ADOPTION EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE DETROIT AREA WITH THE PURPOSE OF FINDING HOMES FOR NEEDY ANIMALS AND EASE OVER CROWDING. WE ALSO SEEK TO EXPAND OUR INTERVENTION SERVICES TO STEM THE FLOW
FUNDRAISING - FODACC SEEKS TO ENGAGE AND EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY REGARDING ANIMAL ADOPTION. OUR VOLUNTEERS CANVAS THE COMMUNITY TALKING TO RESIDENTS AND DISTRIBUTE LITERATURE ON THE VIRTUES OF PROPER PET OWNERSHIP. THESE OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES ARE ALSO USED TO SOLICIT DONATIONS TO SUPPLEMENT OUR BUDGET AND GUARD AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL SHORTFALLS. GRANTS, FUNDRAISING EVENTS AND MONETARY DONATIONS ARE THE MAIN SOURCES OF FUNDING FOR FRIEND OF DETROIT ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL.
