ACTIVITIES (2022) 1) OFFICERS OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR MARINE EXPLORATION BEGAN PLANNING AND CONDUCTED AN INITIAL EXPEDITION TO EXPLORE DEEP CORAL-REEF ENVIRONMENTS AMERICAN SAMOA, IN COLLABORATION WITH BISHOP MUSEUM, THE U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE FOUNDATION, NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION, AND OTHER PARTNERS. THIS WORK IS FUNDED BY A GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL OCEANOGRAPHIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION. 2) OFFICERS OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR MARINE EXPLORATION, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE BISHOP MUSEUM IN HONOLULU, CONTINUED PLANNING A SERIES OF EXPEDITIONS TO SURVEY FISHES AT WAKE ATOLL, FUNDED BY THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, AND IN SUPPORT OF THE U.S. AIRFORCE BASE LOCATED AT WAKE ATOLL. THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEYS IS TO EXAMINE THE POTENTIAL IMPACT OF RECREATIONAL FISHING ACTIVITIES BY CONTRACT WORKERS AT THE ATOLL, AND TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND OUTREACH (INCLUDING A VIDEO KIOSK AT THE AIRPORT) TO INFORM VISITORS AND CONTRACT WORKERS ABOUT FISHING REGULATIONS AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. 3) IN ADDITION TO THESE SPECIFIC PROJECTS, THE ASSOCIATION FOR MARINE EXPLORATION CONTINUED TO MAINTAIN ITS DIVING EQUIPMENT AND MAINTAIN AND UPDATE ITS WEBSITE, AND TO PROVIDE PUBLISHED RESULTS FROM RESEARCH ACTIVITIES TO OTHER SCIENTISTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
