LEAD4CHANGE AND FOUNDATION FOR IMPACT ON LITERACY AND LEARNING CREATED A PROGRAM INVOLVING LEADERSHIP LESSONS AND SERVICE LEARNING FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS. THE LEAD4CHANGE STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM IS A TEACHER-LED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM COMBINING STANDARDS-BASED CURRICULUM ABOUT LEADERSHIP AND PROJECT BASED LEARNING THROUGH A CHALLENGE OF SOLVING NEEDS IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THE LESSONS AND PROJECT BASED LEARNING CURRICULUM ADVANCES STUDENT'S SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION, LITERACY, RESEARCH AND WRITING.
PANASONIC NORTH AMERICA STUDENT ECO CITIZENSHIP PROJECT IS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE FOUNDATION FOR IMPACT ON LITERACY AND LEARNING AND PANASONIC NORTH AMERICA CORPORATION. THE PROJECT GUIDES STUDENTS THROUGH LESSONS ON ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND ENGAGES STUDENTS TO STUDY ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN THEIR COMMUNITY. TEACHERS GUIDE STUDENTS THROUGH THE LESSONS AND HELP THEM TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS THAT ARE RECORDED IN A STUDENT TEAM ECO PICTURE DIARY. THREE WINNING TEAMS ARE CHOSEN AND ARE REWARDED WITH PRIZES FROM PANASONIC. THE LESSONS AND PROJECT-BASED LEARNING CURRICULUM ADVANCE STUDENT'S SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION, LITERACY, RESEARCH, AND WRITING.
THE EXPLORE.ACT.TELL. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY OUR DONOR ALBERTSONS COMPANIESFOUNDATION. THIS SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM BUILDS LEADERSHIP AND CITIZENSHIP IN THE STUDENTS' COMMUNITIES BY ENCOURAGING STUDENTS TO BECOME AWARE OF HUNGER INSECURITY, IMPLEMENT A PROJECT TO HELP WITH HUNGER NEEDS IN THEIR COMMUNITY, AND SHARE THEIR RESULTS BY CREATING A PRESENTATION OR VIDEO. A STUDENTCHALLENGE PROVIDES THEOPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE A GRANT TO BE PASSED ON TO A 501C3 ORGANIZATION WORKING TO RELIEVE HUNGER INSECURITY. THE PROGRAM SERVES STUDENTS IN GRADES 6-12 IN 15 STATES IN THE U.S.
THE FOUNDATION RECEIVED A GENEROUS GRANT FROM THE NOURISHING NEIGHBORS PROGRAM UNDER THE ACME BRAND OF ALBERTSONS COMPANY. THIS GRANT FUNDING WAS A RESULT OF CUSTOMERS DONATIONS AS THEY WERE ASKED TO DONATE AT THE REGISTER TO HELP PROVIDE HEALTHY BREAKFASTS FOR CHILDREN. THE GRANT IS USED TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT LESSONS REGARDING HUNGER INSECURITYAND THE IMPORTANCE OF BREAKFAST PROGRAMS IN SCHOOLS.
