OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE A FAIR TRADE OUTLET IN THE GREATER ROCHESTER, NY AREA FOR ARTISANS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. WE ALSO PROVIDE A FAIR TRADE OUTLET FOR CRAFT ITEMS MADE AT SEVERAL 501 (C) (3) ORGANIZATIONS LOCATED IN THE ROCHESTER, NY AREA. THEY ARE PRIMARY SHELTERS FOR PHYSICALLY AND DRUG ABUSED WOMEN AND CHILDREN. WE ESTIMATE THAT OUR SALE OF GOODS MADE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES HAVE PROVIDED A DECENT INCOME FOR ABOUT 1,500 FAMILIES.
AS PART OF OUR SUPPORT FOR OTHER LOCAL GREATER ROCHESTER 501 (C) (3) ORGANIZATIONS, WE TYPICALLY HOST SEVERAL EVENINGS IN OUR STORE WHERE THEIR VOLUNTEERS MAY SHOP AND WE THEN DONATE 15% OF SUCH SALES TO THEIR ORGANIZATIONS.
THE SECOND PART OF OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE AMERICANS LIVING IN THE GREATER ROCHESTER AREA ABOUT THE ISSUES RELATED TO GLOBAL POVERTY AND FAIR TRADE.
