THE STATEWIDE HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK FOR NEW YORK (SHIN-NY) CONNECTS THE STATE'S NONPROFIT REGIONAL HEALTH INFORMATION ORGANIZATIONS TO ENSURE THE SECURE ELECTRONIC FLOW OF HEALTH INFORMATION THROUGHOUT NEW YORK. AS ONE OF THOSE NONPROFIT H.I.E.S CONNECTED TO THE SHIN-NY, HIXNY MUST MEET OVERSIGHT, ORGANIZATIONAL, SECURITY AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PROVIDE THE MEANS FOR AMBULATORY PROVIDERS, CLINICS, FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS, HOME CARE AGENCIES, HOSPITALS, LABS AND PAYORS (SUCH AS INSURANCE COMPANIES, MEDICAID AND MEDICARE) TO SHARE PATIENTS' HEALTH DATA ELECTRONICALLY.
