THE NEW YORK STATE LAND TITLE ASSOCIATION, INC. IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT MEMBERSHIP ASSOCIATION THAT SERVES TO ADVANCE THE COMMON INTERESTS OF ALL THOSE ENGAGED IN THE BUSINESS OF ABSTRACTING, EXAMINING AND INSURING TITLES, AND OTHERWISE FACILITATING REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS AND INTERESTS THEREIN.

LOBBYING AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY:THE ASSOCIATION ACTIVELY MONITORS LEGISLATION AND PENDING REGULATIONS BY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. BILLS ENTERED IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE ARE REVIEWED AND WHEN DEEMED TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE CONCERNS OF TITLE INSURANCE, THE ASSOCIATION WILL ISSUE MEMORNADA IN SUPPORT OR OPPOSITION. THESE MEMOS SEEK TO INFORM AND ILLUMINATE THE ISSUES FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE ASSEMBLY AND SENATE THEREBY ENCOURAGING THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE TITLE INDUSTRY AND CONSUMERS. THE ASSOCIATION MEETS REGULARLY WITH THE STATE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT TO ADDRESS TITLE INSURANCE ISSUES AND TO SERVE AS AN EXPERT SOURCE OF INFORMATION AND OPINION ON TITLE INSURANCE.
CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION:THE NYSLTA IS AN ACCREDITED PROVIDER OF CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION TO MEMBERS OF THE BAR IN NEW YORK STATE. THE ASSOCIATION PRESENTS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TARGETING THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF TITLE INSURANCE, AN AREA SELDOM ADDRESSED IN OTHER CLE OFFERINGS ACROSS THE STATE. NON-MEMBERS MAY ATTEND THE CLE FOR A NOMINAL FEE.
COMMUNICATIONS CHANNEL:THEROUGH THE USE OF ITS BROADCAST CAPABILITY TO APPROXIMATELY 400 MEMBERS, PLUS A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER, THE ASSOCIATION RELAYS ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPDATES FOR COUNTY CLERKS, MUNICIPALITIES, AND THE COURTS. AN INFORMAL "UP-STREAM" CHANNEL FROM ATTORNEYS, AGENTS, ABSTRACTERS AND EXAMINERS PROVIDES TIMELY INFORMATION FROM THEIR FIELD, WHICH THE ASSOCIATION BROADCASTS TO ITS MEMBERS. THIS EARLY NOTICE SYSTEM PROVIDES A UNIQUE BENEFIT AND SIGNIFICANT COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION.
