THE PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL OR OTHER SUPPORT FOR LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES, FOR NEW AND INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL AND/OR STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAMS, AND TO ENHANCE, SUPPLEMENT, AND ENRICH EXISTING PROGRAMS THAT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BENEFIT CHILDREN AND STUDENTS OF ALL AGES WITHIN THE LANCASTER-LEBANON INTERMEDIATE UNIT 13 AND/OR ITS MEMBER SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

THE LANCASTER-LEBANON EDUCATION FOUNDATION RECEIVED FUNDS AWARDED THROUGH THE SOLID FUTURES: CONNECTING REFUGEES TO CAREER PATHWAYS GRANT. THESE FUNDS, AVAILABLE FOR THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM AT IU13, WILL PROVIDE A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR REFUGEES WITH LANGUAGE BARRIERS TO OBTAIN TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION IN HIGH-PRIORITY OCCUPATIONS SO THEY CAN LAND JOBS WITH FAMILY-SUSTAINING WAGES. THE THREE-YEAR FUNDING IS THROUGH THE OFFICE OF REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT, ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES.
LANCASTER-LEBANON EDUCATION FOUNDATION, THROUGH FUNDS RAISED AT FROM THE HEART GIFT BASKET BINGO, PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO IU13'S SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS, SPECIALISTS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND SUPPORT STAFF WHO BRING A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE TO SERVING STUDENTS THROUGHOUT LANCASTER AND LEBANON COUNTIES. FROM PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY CLASSROOM SERVICES TO RELATED SERVICES TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORTS, THE IU13 TEAM FOCUSES ON IMPROVING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.
LANCASTER-LEBANON IU13, THADDEUS STEVENS COLLEGE, AND HIGH INDUSTRIES PARTNERED TO DEVELOP A SUPPORTED WELDING TRAINING PROGRAM SPECIFICALLY TAILORED TO SERVE CLIENTS IN RECOVERY AT GATEHOUSEFOR MEN AND PREPARE THEM FOR LOCAL WELDING JOBS. THIS PARTNERSHIP DEMONSTRATES TO EMPLOYERS ACROSS THE REGION THAT, WITH THE PROPER SUPPORTS, ADULTS WITH A HISTORY OF ADDICTION CAN STILL BE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYEES.
THE LANCASTER-LEBANON EDUCATION FOUNDATION MINI-GRANT PROGRAM PROVIDESSMALL GRANTS TO CLASSROOM TEACHERS WHO WANT TO IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVESTRATEGIES IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. AUTISM SUPPORT IS PROVIDED THROUGH THEPURCHASE OF ITEMS FOR THE SENSORY ROOM, A SPECIALLY EQUIPPED ROOMDESIGNED TO PROVIDE SENSORY SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS WITH AUTISM. LLEF PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO SEVERAL STUDENT ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES, INCLUDING AN ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL CHESS TOURNAMENT AS WELL AS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SUMMER ENRICHMENT CAMPS. THE SOCIAL WORK FUND ASSISTS IU13 STUDENTS AND FAMILIES WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
