Part 3 - Line 4a

THE JEWISH LEARNING FELLOWSHIP (JLF) IS A 10-WEEK EXPERIENTIAL, CONVERSATIONAL SEMINAR FOR STUDENTS LOOKING TO DEEPEN THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF JUDAISM ON THEIR OWN TERMS. WE'RE INTERESTED IN ASKING BIG QUESTIONS. YOU KNOW, THE BIG STUFF - LIKE WHO AM I? WHAT COMMUNITIES AM I A PART OF? WHAT IS WORTH COMMITTING MYSELF TO, AND WHY? AND WE DON'T PURPORT TO HAVE ANY OF THE BIG ANSWERS...CERTAINLY NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE. WE MAKE NO CLAIMS ABOUT THE "RIGHT" WAY TO PRACTICE OR NOT TO PRACTICE JUDAISM. OUR JOB IS TO HELP YOU EXPLORE THE TRADITION IN A SAFE SPACE AND FIND YOUR OWN PLACE, ON YOUR TERMS, IN JUDAISM'S GREAT CONVERSATION. 100 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED

ALL STAFF MEMBERS WERE DISPATCHED ACROSS ALL FIVE BOROUGHS WITH PORTABLE SUKKOT, WE ENGAGED 100S' OF STUDENTS ACROSS NEW YORK CITY IN THE MITZVAH OF SHAKING THE LULAV AND EATING TOGETHER IN THE SUKKAH. THIS WAS OUR FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO MEET AND CELEBRATE IN PERSON SINCE MARCH 2020. WE WERE ABLE TO BEGIN HOLIDAYS AND SOCIALIZATION TO OUR STUDENTS NEAR THEIR HOMES AND BRING BACK A SENSE OF COMMUNITY TO EACH OF THEM BY VISITING IN PERSON.

THIS PROGRAM CELEBRATED ISRAELI INDEPENDENCE DAY IN CENTRAL PARK. WE HAD 100 STUDENTS JOIN US IN CENTRAL PARK TO DANCE TO ISRAELI MUSIC, EAT ISRAELI FOOD AND LEARN ABOUT ISRAELI HISTORY AND CULTURE. THE THEME WAS BEACH DAY IN TEL AVIV, SO WE HAD BEACH TOWELS AND BEACH GAMES LIKE MATKOT, AND OUR ISRAEL FELLOW LED CONVERSATIONS ABOUT WHAT THE FUTURE OF ISRAEL CAN LOOK LIKE
