PROGRAM AREA A: ADVOCATING FOR IMMIGRANTS SERVICES AND COVID-19 SUPPORT & RECOVERYKEY LEGISLATIVE AND BUDGET CAMPAIGN VICTORIES INCLUDE:1. WON THE INCLUSION OF MIXED-STATUS IMMIGRANT FAMILIES IN THE AMERICA CARES ACTCOVID-19 RELIEF PACKAGE, WHICH BROUGHT NEARLY $1 BILLION IN AID TO ABOUT 400,000 NEWYORKERS .2. WON MAJOR SUPPORT FOR SMALL MINORITY AND IMMIGRANT-OWNED BUSINESSES, THROUGH THECREATION OF THE U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION'S $100 MILLION "COMMUNITYNAVIGATORS" TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.3. WON THE $2.1 BILLION EXCLUDED WORKER FUND IN THE NYS BUDGET, WHICH PROVIDEDFINANCIAL RELIEF TO NEARLY 300,000 WORKERS WHO LOST JOBS DUE TO COVID BUT WERENTELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE DUE TO THEIR IMMIGRATION STATUS.4. WON $1 BILLION GRANTS IN THE NYS BUDGET FOR SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT TO RECOVER.
PROGRAM AREA B: ADVANCING A PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIPIN 2021, THE NYIC LAUNCHED A NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO EDUCATE AND ENGAGE THE PUBLIC AND ADVOCATE FOR A PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS. LEADING A COALITION OF PARTNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, THE NYIC SHARED TIMELY INFORMATION ON WHAT WOULD BE NEEDED TO CREATE A PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP FOR DREAMERS, TPS HOLDERS, FARMWORKERS, AND ESSENTIAL WORKERS.
PROGRAM AREA C: SUPPORTING AND WORKING WITH NYIC MEMBER ORGANIZATIONSDURING FY21:- OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS SERVED MORE THAN ONE MILLION NEW YORKERS.- THE NYIC STRENGTHENED THE IMMIGRANT RIGHTS COMMUNITY THROUGH A RECORD $1.9 MILLION IN REGRANTS TO 108 MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS.- THE NYIC SUPPORTED 41 MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD SERVICES REACHING OVER 49,000 PEOPLE IN RESPONSE TO FOOD INSECURITY CAUSED BY THE COVID-19PANDEMIC.- THE NYIC PROVIDED INFORMATION, ADVICE AND DIRECT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO OUR MEMBERS ON HOW TO ACCESS THE PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM; AT LEAST 52 MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVED OVER $18 MILLION IN PPP LOANS.THE NYIC IS A DIVERSE COALITION OF OVER 200 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT NEW YORK STATE. THE MEMBERS ARE GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, NOT-FOR-PROFIT HUMAN SERVICE PROVIDERS, RELIGIOUS AND ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS, WORKERS CENTERS AND LABOR UNIONS, AND BUSINESS AND CIVIC PARTNERS THAT ARE COMMITTED TO ADVANCING THE NYIC'S MISSION TO ACHIEVE A MORE JUST SOCIETY THAT VALUES IMMIGRANTS' CONTRIBUTIONS AND EXTENDS OPPORTUNITIES TO ALL.WOMEN LEAD OVER 50% OF OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, 13% OF OUR MEMBERORGANIZATIONS LEADERSHIP IDENTIFY AS AFRICAN AMERICAN, 31% ASIAN AMERICANS AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS (AAPI), 11% CARIBBEAN, 39% LATINX, AND 13% MENASA.OUR MEMBERS WERE THE FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE FOR FAMILIES IN NEED THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC, PROVIDING CASH ASSISTANCE, FOOD PANTRIES, WORKSHOPS ON PPP LOANS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES, COVID TESTING, AND VACCINATION RESOURCES, AND MUCH MORE. THEY RALLY WITH US AS WE ADVOCATE FOR FAIR AND EQUITABLE TREATMENT FOR IMMIGRANT NEW YORKERS AND ARE OUR PARTNERS IN PROVIDING FRONTLINE AID. THROUGH THEM, WE DIRECTLY IMPACT IMMIGRANT FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES VIA REGRANTS, TRAINING, AND CONVENINGS.
