THROUGH A CLOSE READING OF EARLY SHOWS AND PROJECTS, THE EXHIBITION SHOWCASES THE LEADING ROLE STOREFRONT HAS PLAYED IN THE DEFENSE OF PUBLIC SPACE THROUGH ARTISTIC PRACTICE. THIS MULTI-YEARPROJECT TRANSLATES TO THE PHYSICAL REALM, A BODY OF WORK INITIATED BY THE ARTIST ON INSTAGRAM. THE PROJECT BEGAN AS AN INFORMAL RESPONSE TO #BLACKOUTTUESDAY, A SOCIAL MEDIA PROTEST CAMPAIGN THAT INVITED THE PUBLIC TO POST BLACK SQUARES TO THEIR FEEDS.
