THE NEW YORK STATE PODIATRIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (NYSPMA) IS A TAX-EXEMPT NOT-FOR-PROFIT, VOLUNTARY PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION UNITING 3 OF EVERY 4 DOCTORS OF PODIATRIC MEDICINE (DPM'S) IN NEW YORK STATE. NYSPMA IS THE LARGEST STATEWIDE COMPONENT OF THE AMERICAN PODIATRIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (WWW.APMA.ORG) AND ITS AFFILIATED NATIONAL NETWORK OF CERTIFYING BOARDS AND PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES. ESTABLISHED IN 1895, WE WERE THE FIRST ORGANIZATION OF ITS KIND IN AMERICA.OUR VISION IS TO BE THE VOICE OF THE PROFESSION OF PODIATRIC MEDICINE, TO BE ADVOCATES FOR OUR PATIENTS, TO LEAD THE PODIATRIC COMMUNITY THROUGH GOOD EXAMPLE, AND TO STRIVE FOR PROFESSIONAL UNITY AND EXCELLENCE IN PODIATRIC MEDICINE. OUR COMMON GOALS INCLUDE ONGOING MEDICAL EDUCATION, LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY, PUBLIC INFORMATION, AND PROGRESS IN PODIATRIC MEDICAL ARTS AND SCIENCES.WE COMPLETED A LANDMARK STUDY WHICH DEMONSTRATED PODIATRIC VALUE IN HEALTH CARE DELIVERY, WHICH RESULTS IN LOWER COSTS, DECREASED HOSPITALIZATIONS AND IMPROVED OUTCOMES IN THE AREA OF DIABETES, OBESITY, OPIOID/SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND FALLS-FOUR KEY AREAS OF THE NY PREVENTION AGENDA.IN ADDITION, WE DEVELOPED A CONSUMER WEBSITE, NYFOOTHEALTH, TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT PODIATRY AND PROVIDE GENERAL HEALTH INFORMATION ON FOOT HEALTH.
