GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS: THE AMERICAN HOTEL & LODGING ASSOCIATION (AHLA) IS COMMITTED TO PROMOTING INNOVATIVE POLICY SOLUTIONS THAT ELEVATE THE DOMESTIC LODGING INDUSTRY AND THE MILLIONS OF JOBS IT SUPPORTS. OVER 60 PERCENT OF HOTEL OWNERS ARE DEFINED AS SMALL BUSINESSES AND THEY PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN KEEPING OUR ECONOMY STRONG. AHLA'S ADVOCACY AGENDA INCLUDES SUPPORTING AND PROMOTING OUR WORKFORCE, PROTECTING OUR GUESTS AND THE GUEST EXPERIENCE, ENSURING A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD WITH ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATIONS PLATFORMS THAT IMPACT NEIGHBORHOODS AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING, HIGHLIGHTING OUR INDUSTRIES COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES AND PROMOTING TRAVEL AND TOURISM. THE PRINCIPAL WAY AHLA ENGAGES ITS MEMBERSHIP IS THROUGH NUMEROUS COMMITTEES AND COUNCIL'S THAT PROVIDE INPUT AND CREATE INFORMATION SHARING AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ITS MEMBERS.
SIGNATURE CONFERENCES & EVENTS: AHLA DEVELOPS, MANAGES AND OPERATES MANY HIGH-QUALITY CONFERENCES AND EVENTS FOR ITS MEMBERSHIP ANNUALLY. THESE EVENTS INCLUDE HIGH-VALUE INFORMATION, UNIQUE RESEARCH AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ITS MEMBERSHIP AND GENERATE REGISTRATION FEES AND OTHER SPONSORSHIP REVENUES FOR THE ASSOCIATION. 2021 SAW A FULL RETURN OF IN-PERSON EVENTS FOR THE ASSOCIATION, WITH A ROBUST CALENDAR OF PROGRAMMING AND STRONG MEMBER ATTENDANCE AND ENGAGEMENT.
