WOMAN PHYSICIANS: TAKING LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THE MEDICAL COMMMUNITY THIS PROJECT FOCUSED ON DEALING WITH THE REALITY THAT, FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, WOMEN PHYSICIANS HAVE BECOME A GROWING AND MORE IMPORTANT FORCE IN THE DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE BUT HAVE NOT ACHIEVED LEADERSHIP EQUILIBRIUM WITH THEIR MALE COLLEAGUES. THE REASONS ARE BOTH SOCIOLOGICAL AND FINANCIAL AND ALSO REFLECT THE FACT THAT WOMEN PHYSICIANS TEND TO SELECT THE LOWER PAID SPECIALTIES. THIS LEADERSHIP SEMINAR WAS LIMITED TO WOMAN PHYSICIANS ANE FOCUSED ON CREDITABLE SKILLS WOMEN PHYSICIANS NEED TO ADVANCE THEIR STATUS IN THE MEDICAL WORKFORCE.


PRACTICE TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVE PRACTICE TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVE IS A PROGRAM FACILITATING THE ABILITY OF PHYSICIANS TO MOVE FROM ONE SPECIALTY TO ANOTHER WHILE CONTINUING TO DELIVER MEDICAL SERVICES TO PATIENTS. THE PROGRAM HAS ENABLED PHYSICIANS TO INCORPORATE NEW AND UPDATED SKILLS AND STAY ABREAST OF DEVELOPMENTS IN THEIR FIELD.


PEER TO PEER COUNSELING PEER TO PEER IS A PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE MEDICAL SOCIETY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK TO ASSIST PHYSICIANS IN RESIDENCY WITH GUIDANCE FROM MORE SENIOR EXPERIENCED PHYSICIANS. THE PROGRAM HAS PROVEN TO BE AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS.
