TO PROVIDE MINIMUM-COST IMMIGRANT LEGAL SERVICES AND REPRESENTATION, LEGAL COUNSELING, COMMUNITY EDUCATION, SOCIAL SERVICES, AND ADVOCACY FOR THE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY ON LONG ISLAND.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE AND REPRESENTATION OF IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE CLIENTS IN SUCH CASES AS ASYLUM, TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS, FAMILY PETITIONS, CITIZENSHIP APPLICATIONS, SPECIAL IMMIGRANT JUVENILE STATUS, AND OTHER IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES. IN 2021, 1,352 IMMIGRANTS RECEIVED IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES THROUGH CARECEN'S LEGAL SERVICES PROGRAM. IN ADDITION TO LEGAL SERVICES, CARECEN PROVIDES A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS. IN 2021, 109 IMMIGRANT CLIENTS AND LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS RECEIVED ASSISTANCE ACCESSING A VARIETY OF SOCIAL SERVICES THROUGH OUR SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM, INCLUDING ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND TECHNOLOGY, AND MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES. COMMUNITY NAVIGATOR AND COMMUNITY EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS WERE HELD VIRTUALLY IN 2021, HOSTING PRESENTATIONS ON UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS, COVID-19, CITIZENSHIP, ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING, WORKFORCE AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND DIGITAL LITERACY TO 4,676 INDIVIDUALS WITH MORE THAN 9,000 VIEWS BY COMMUNITY MEMBERS. CARECEN ALSO PROVIDED FREE VIRTUAL CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION CLASSES TO MORE THAN 126 STUDENTS.
