NEIGHBORS TOGETHER IS COMMITTED TO ENDING HUNGER AND POVERTY IN THE OCEAN HILL, BROWNSVILLE, AND BEDFORD-STUYVESANT NEIGHBORHOODS OF BROOKLYN. THESE ARE AMONG THE LOWEST-INCOME AREAS IN NEW YORK CITY.

COMMUNITY CAFE- THE COMMUNITY CAFE PROVIDES FREE, NUTRITIOUS LUNCH AND DINNER MEALS TO 400 PEOPLE PER DAY TO EASE THE IMMEDIATE CRISIS OF HUNGER. IN FY 21, THE CAFE SERVED OVER 70,000 MEALS TO OVER 10,000 MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN NEED.
EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM- THE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM CONNECTS MEMBERS TO STABILIZING RESOURCES BEYOND FOOD TO ADRESS THE UNDERLYING PROBLEMS THAT LEAD TO HUNGER: HOMELESSNESS, UNEMPLOYMENT, INADEQUATE HEALTH CARE, LACK OF EDUCATION, ETC. IN FY 21, THE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM PROVIDED LIFE STABILIZING SERVICES TO OVER 650 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING HOUSING PLACEMENT ADVOCACY TO OVER 375 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS.
COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM- THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM ENGAGES OUR MEMBERS IN ADVOCACY AND ORGANIZING EFFORTS WHILE PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION AND SKILLS BUILDING TO TRANSFORM PUBLIC POLICIES THAT TOO OFTEN COMPOUND RATHER THAN RELIEVE POVERTY. IN FY 21, OVER 350 MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN ORGANIZING AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS FOR LOW-INCOME PEOPLE IN THE CITY, STATE AND FEDERAL BUDGETS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LOW-INCOME PEOPLE.
