THE LADDER ALLIANCE PROVIDES WOMEN VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND LOW- INCOME WOMEN WITH THE TOOLS TO LEAD SELF-RELIANT, INDEPENDENT AND SUCCESSFUL LIVES. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY CLOSING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE AND TEACHING CRITICAL JOB SKILLS TRAINING AND COMPUTER LITERACY, WHICH IS CONSIDERED A REQUISITE IN THE 21ST CENTURY. THE LADDER ALLIANCE PROVIDES THREE DISTINCT PROGRAMS TO READY WOMEN TO EITHER ENTER OR RETURN TO THE WORKFORCE. THE BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS TRAINING GOAL IS TO GIVE GRADUATES ENOUGH COMPUTER SKILLS TO BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS IN MAY TYPES OF CAREER FIELDS. PROFESSIONAL OFFICE SKILLS TRAINING IS A 16-WEEK, 400-HOUR TRAINING PROGRAM FOCUSED ON PREPARING STUDENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT IN A PROFESSIONAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT. THEN THE GOAL OF THE MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST TRAINING, THE HIGHEST SKILL LEVEL PROGRAM, IS TO TEACH STUDENTS THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO PASS THE MICROSOFT TEST IN BOTH WORD AND EXCEL TO BECOME MOS CERTIFIED. AT THE LADDER ALIANCE, EVERY CLASS BEGINS WITH A MOTIVATIONAL SEGMENT TO BUILD SELF-ESTEEM/SELF-CONFIDENCE AND EMPOWERMENT. WE SEE STUDENTS TRANSFORM FROM AN "I CAN'T" ATTITUDE TO ONE OF "DON'T TELL ME I CAN'T."
