DUBOIS SCULPTURE PROJECT THE NONPROFIT CENTER OF THE BERKSHIRES, AS FISCAL SPONSOR FOR THE WEB DU BOIS SCULPTURE PROJECT, RECEIVED A $10,000 GRANT TO FUND THREE MAQUETTES (MINITURE SCALES SCULPTURES) THAT WILL BE CREATED BY FINALISTS FOR THE DU BOIS SCULPTURE COMPETITION. THE MODELS WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE SELECTION JURY IN JUNE OF 2023. THE SCULPTURE PROJECT WILL EVENTUALLY YIELD A LIFE-SIZE BRONZE STATUE OF DUBOIS GAZING AT THE NEW MASON LIBRARY PLAZA FROM A SWEEPING MARBLE BENCH. THE STATUE WOULD BE APPROACHABLE (ESPECIALLY TO CHILDREN), INVITING US TO JOIN DUBOIS - TO SIT, VISIT, READ, AND LEARN.

INDIGENOIS PEOPLE DAY ALLIANCE FOR A VIABLE FUTURE (FISCAL SPONSOR IS GOOD WORK INSTITUTE EIN ) RECEIVED A $7,500 GRANT FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY EVENTS EVENTS AND CEREMONIAL WALK IN THE BERKSHIRES 2023. THE 4TH ANNUAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' DAY PUBLIC, FAMILY-FRIENDLY, COMMUNITY EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO ALL. THE EVENTS FEATURED A MOHICAN DELEGATION OF TWENTY HONORED GUESTS FROM WISCONSIN AS WELL AS COMMUNITY LEADERS FROM FIFTEEN TRIBAL NATIONS WHO LED THE WALK WITH INSPIRATIONAL TALKS, SONGS, DANCING AND OFFERINGS TO THE HOUSATONIC RIVER.
