PURPOSE: BACKPACK SNACK ATTACK'S MISSION IS TO FEED ALL OF THE STUDENTS REFERRED BY SCHOOLS IN WARWICK TOWNSHIP WHO HAVE SHOWN SIGNS OF HUNGER AND WHO QUALIFY THROUGH THE FREE/REDUCED MEAL PROGRAM. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, THEY HAVE FED NEARLY 250 CHILDREN EACH WEEK DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. THE SUPPORT OF THE WARWICK SAVINGS FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTES IMMENSELY TO THIS ACHIEVEMENT. ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WARWICK, FLORIDA AND GREENWOOD LAKE DISTRICTS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM. TEACHERS AND SCHOOL PERSONNEL IDENTIFY THE HUNGRY CHILDREN AND REFER THEM TO BACKPACK SNACK ATTACK. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SUPPLIES FOOD ON WEEKENDS TO THE CHILDREN DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.

FEARLESS HUDSON VALLEY (FORMERLY SAFE HOMES OF ORANGE COUNTY)

PURPOSE: FUNDS ENABLED FEARLESS! TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN HOMELESSNESS AND STABILITY FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING SURVIVORS IN ORANGE COUNTY BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR HOUSING-RELATED EXPENSES. THE FUNDING ALLOWED FEARLESS! TO SUPPORT CLIENTS IN FINDING AND KEEPING SAFE, AFFORDABLE AND PERMANENT HOUSING. THE GRANT AWARD AMOUNT HAS BEEN ALLOCATED TO PROVIDE MUCH-NEEDED SUPPORT TO NINE INDIVIDUALS (THREE ADULT SURVIVORS AND SIX CHILDREN). IN ADDITION TO RECEIVING FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO ENABLE SURVIVORS AND THEIR CHILDREN TO ACCESS SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING, THESE INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED AND CONTINUE TO RECEIVE ONGOING SERVICES, INCLUDING ADVOCACY, ACCOMPANIMENT AND SUPPORT, CASE MANAGEMENT AND THERAPEUTIC COUNSELING TO AID IN HEALING FROM THE TRAUMA AND ABUSE THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED.

FLORIDA HISTORICAL SOCIETY

PURPOSE: THE GRANT IS ENABLING THE SOCIETY TO CONTINUE TO CONVERT THE LAST ROOM IN THE BASEMENT INTO A GENERAL STORE, FILLED WITH ITEMS THAT WERE AVAILABLE IN THE 1800S, AS WELL AS UNIQUE UTENSILS, POTS AND PANS, ANTIQUE TOYS AND MORE. TWO EXTERIOR WALLS RECEIVED ATTENTION UTILIZING NEW MORTAR AND CEMENT PLASTER. ALL FOUR WALLS ARE BEING CLEANED, SEALED AND PAINTED. IN ADDITION, PARTS OF THE ATTIC WERE UPGRADED, ROOF FLASHING WAS REPLACED AND THE ATTIC FLOOR REPAIRED. ALSO, A STAIRWAY TO THE SECOND FLOOR WHICH HAD BEEN SEALED UP IS BEING REOPENED TO ENABLE THE STRUCTURE TO MEET CO REQUIREMENTS. THE HOPE IS THAT THE GREEN FAMILY HOMESTEAD WILL BECOME FILLED WITH STUDENTS AND ADULTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT LIFE IN FLORIDA IN THE 1800S.

GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH

PURPOSE: THE GRANT PROVIDED SUPPORT FOR THE CHURCH'S "SOUP FOR THE SOUL" COMMUNITY OUTREACH. THIS INCLUDED PURCHASES OF CONTAINERS, LABELS, BREAD AND SOME MISCELLANEOUS GROCERIES TOTALING $1,644.76. THANKS TO THE FOUNDATION'S DONATION, ALL EXPENSES WERE COVERED.

GREYSTONE PROGRAM

PURPOSE: GREYSTONE, WHICH SUPPORTS CHILDREN, ADULTS AND FAMILIES LIVING WITH AUTISM AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, PURCHASED THE EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR THE NEW SENSORY ROOM AT CLUB ATLAS AND ASPIRE WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE WARWICK SAVINGS FOUNDATION GRANT. THE ROOM IS STILL UNDERGOING ELECTRICAL WORK AND UPDATES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PROGRAM. THIS WORK SHOULD BE COMPLETED THIS SUMMER (IF NECESSARY INVOICES CAN BE PROVIDED). WHEN THE PROGRAM BEGINS, GREYSTONE CAN SHARE THE IMPACT THE SENSORY ROOM HAS ON THE PARTICIPANTS AND PICTURES OF IT IN USE.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE TOWN OF WARWICK

PURPOSE: THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE TOWN OF WARWICK WAS FOUNDED IN 1906 BY A GROUP OF LOCAL RESIDENTS WITH A VISION TO PRESERVE AND CELEBRATE THE HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF WARWICK AND ITS PEOPLE BY EDUCATING AND ENGAGING THE PUBLIC IN THINGS OF HISTORICAL RELEVANCE. THANKS TO THE FOUNDATION'S RECENT SUPPORT, THE SOCIETY HAS MADE GREAT STRIDES IN PRESENTING FORWARD-FACING PUBLIC DISPLAYS AND WORKSHOPS, ATTRACTING NEW AUDIENCES TO THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND ENTERTAINING HISTORIC EXHIBITS. THE SOCIETY TOOK THE LEAD IN CREATING TWO PUBLIC EXHIBITS AT MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK. THE WHS ORGANIZED PARTICIPATION BY THE LOCAL HISTORICAL SOCIETIES AND OFFICIAL HISTORIANS. PROGRAMMING AT THE WHS WAS EXPANDED, AND TOURS AND HISTORIC WALK-ABOUTS RESUMED AFTER MISSING TWO YEARS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
