THE OLD SAYBROOK HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE, PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF OLD SAYBROOK AND SAYBROOK COLONY. IT OWNS AND MAINTAINS A CAMPUS CONSISTING OF THE 1767 GENERAL WILLIAM HART HOUSE AND EXHIBIT GALLERY, THE FRANK STEVENSON ARCHIVES BUILDING AND HERITAGE GARDENS THAT ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC YEAR-ROUND.IT PROTECTS DOCUMENTS AND ARTIFACTS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO THE HISTORY OF THE AREA, PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH. IT ALSO OFFERS TOURS, TIMELY HISTORICAL EXHIBITS AND PROGRAMS. PRESENTLY IT IS ENGAGED IN A COMPLETE RESTORATION OF THE HART HOUSE.ONE OF OUR RECENT COLLABORATIONS IS BASED ON HELPING THE SCHOOLS UPDATE CURRICULUM BY PROVIDING ORIGINAL SOURCES FOR THE STUDY OF VARIOUS TOPICS.
