THE MISSION OF THE FARMINGTON VILLAGE GREEN & LIBRARY ASSOCIATION IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND PRESERVE THE CULTURAL HISTORY OF FARMINGTON THROUGH THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND OPERATION OF THE FARMINGTON AND BARNEY LIBRARIES, STANLEY-WHITMAN HOUSE MUSEUM, THE VILLAGE GREEN, AND MEMENTO MORI CEMETERY.

THE FARMINGTON LIBRARY IS A COMFORTABLE, DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT WHERE CURRENT TECHNOLOGY, FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL SERVICE, EQUAL ACCESS TO A WIDE VARIETY OF MATERIALS, AND CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS ENCOURAGE THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS, KINDLE THE PLEASURE OF READING AND LIFE-LONG LEARNING, PRESERVE THE MEMORIES AND HISTORY OF FARMINGTON AND ITS NEIGHBORS, AND FOSTER COMMUNITY SPIRIT.
STANLEY-WHITMAN HOUSE IS A LIVING HISTORY CENTER AND MUSEUM THAT TEACHES THROUGH THE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION, RESEARCH, AND DYNAMIC INTERPRETATION OF THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF EARLY FARMINGTON. PROGRAMS, EVENTS, CLASSES, AND EXHIBITS ENCOURAGE VISITORS OF ALL AGES TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN HISTORY BY DOING, ACTING, QUESTIONING, AND ENGAGING IN COLONIAL LIFE AND THE IDEAS THAT FORMED THE FOUNDATION OF THAT CULTURE.
