CT PTA IS AN ADVOCATE FOR CHILDREN IN CONNECTICUT. CT PTA IS ONE OF THE CONSTITUENT AND AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS OF THE NATIONAL PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION. CT PTA ALLOWS THE FLOW OF INFORMATION FROM A NATIONAL TO LOCAL LEVEL. THE CT PTA IS COMPRISED OF APPROXIMATELY 260 UNITS (LOCAL SCHOOL PTAS) AND 49,000 INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS IN CONNECTICUT. THE MISSION OF THE CT PTA IS TO SUPPORT AND SPEAK ON BEHALF OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN THE SCHOOLS, IN THE COMMUNITY, AND BEFORE GOVERNMENTAL BODIES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THAT MAKE DECISIONS AFFECTING CHILDREN; TO ASSIST PARENTS IN DEVELOPING THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO RAISE AND PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN; AND TO ENCOURAGE PARENT AND PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE NATION.

STATE OFFICE PROVIDES SERVICES TO LOCAL PTA UNITS. CONNECTICUT PTA EXISTS AS A SOURCE OF INFORMATION AND SUPPORT TO ALL OUR LOCAL UNITS AND MEMBERS. CT PTA IS HERE TO SUPPORT THE EFFORTS OF OUR MEMBERS AS THEY WORK FOR THE HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH AROUND THE STATE.
BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND CONFERENCES ASSIST THE CT PTA IN ACHIEVING ITS MISSION AND OBJECTIVES. THESE MEMBERS ARE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING THE BEST SERVICES TO THE CHILDREN IN THE LOCAL SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE UTILIZATION OF THE LOCAL PTAS UNITS.
CT PTA PARTICIPATES IN THE NATIONAL PTA CONVENTION. THE INDIVIDUALS WHO ATTEND THE NATIONAL PTA CONVENTION GAIN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SCHOOL DECISIONS AND LEGISTLATION AFFECTING THE WELL-BEING OF CHILRENIN ADDITION TO ACTIVELY SEEK OUT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, FUNDRAISING IDEAS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT TO HELP THEIR PTAS AND SCHOOL COMMUNITIES. THEY ALSO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND PUBLICATIONS FOR BOTH CHILREN AND ADULTS, AND SHARE ANY IDEAS OBTAINED FROM THE CONVENTION WITH THEIR SCHOOLS, COMMUNITIES AND THEIR PTAS.
ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDING LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE THE USE OF A PAID LOBBYIST TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION OF CONNECTICUT, INC. AT THE STATE GOVERNMENT LEVEL.
