IRIS'S MISSION IS TO HELP REFUGEES, ASYLEES, ASYLUM SEEKERS, AND OTHER DISPLACED PEOPLE ESTABLISH NEW LIVES, REGAIN HOPE, AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE VITALITY OF CONNECTICUT'S COMMUNITIES. IN 2021, IRIS WELCOMED 525 REFUGEES AND OTHER IMMIGRANTS AND ASSISTED OVER 3,400 OTHERS WHO HAD ARRIVED IN PREVIOUS YEARS. IRIS MEETS THEIR BASIC NEEDS - HOUSING, FOOD, FURNITURE, CLOTHING - AND OFFERS SERVICES TO HELP THEM INTEGRATE INTO THE COMMUNITY AND BECOME ECONOMICALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT, INCLUDING CASE MANAGEMENT; ENGLISH CLASSES; HEALTHCARE COORDINATION; WELLNESS PROGRAMS; AND EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION, YOUTH, AND IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES. IN ADDITION, IRIS'S LAWYERS REPRESENT ASYLUM SEEKERS IN THEIR CASES AND IMMIGRANTS IN THEIR PROCEEDINGS.
