SEE SCHEDULE ONRM OFFERS A ROBUST SCHEDULE OF EXHIBITIONS THAT ILLUMINATE THE DEPTH AND SCOPE OF AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION. THE ARTWORK FEATURED IS DRAWN FROM NRM'S COLLECTION (INCLUDING THE COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL NORMAN ROCKWELL WORKS) AND OVER 22,000 WORKS OF OTHER AMERICAN ILLUSTRATORS. RECENT EXHIBITION THEMES INCLUDE AN EXPLORATION OF 300 YEARS OF ILLUSTRATION AND ITS EFFECT UPON OUR UNDERSTANDING OF RACE; AN EXHIBITION TRACING THE INFLUENCES OF CONTEMPORARY ILLUSTRATORS REACHING BACK 500 YEARS; AN EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY AND HISTORIC FANTASY ART. IN ADDITION, WE FEATURE GALLERIES THAT HIGHLIGHT THE ILLUSTRATOR'S PROCESS IN CREATING ART. EXHIBITIONS ARE SHARED WITH OTHER MUSEUMS THROUGH OUR TRAVELING EXHIBITION PROGRAM, EXTENDING THE REACH OF THE SHOWS. IN ADDITION, NRM ENGAGES A PROFESSIONAL CURATORIAL AND COLLECTIONS CARE STAFF TO STEWARD ITS COLLECTION, INCLUDING DIGITIZATION TO ALLOW ACCESS TO MUSEUM HOLDINGS, TO PROVIDE ACCESS FOR SCHOLARS, AND TO ASSURE THAT THE ART IN OUR CARE IS PRESERVED IN PERPETUITY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ARTIFACTS THAT WE CARE FOR IS NORMAN ROCKWELL'S LAST STUDIO, WHICH WAS MOVED TO OUR CAMPUS WHEN ROCKWELL DIED. THE ROCKWELL CENTER FOR AMERICAN VISUAL STUDIES IS THE CENTRAL RESOURCE TO ART HISTORY SCHOLARS. THROUGH THE WORK OF THE CENTER, THE FIRST TEXT BOOK ON ILLUSTRATION ART WAS PRODUCED, AND THE CENTER MAINTAINS A PUBLICATION SCHEDULE, OF EXHIBITION RELATED CATALOGUES WHICH BRING NEW VOICES TO THE CANON OF ART HISTORY, AND EXPAND KNOWLEDGE IN THE FIELD.
