THE MISSION OF UPPER VALLEY ROWING FOUNDATION (UVRF) IS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY FOR THE SPORT OF ROWING BY OFFERING A WIDE VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR AREA RESIDENTS TO ROW ON THE CONNECTICUT RIVER. BY MAKING AVAILABLE PUBLIC, ROWING-APPROPRIATE ACCESS TO THE CONNECTICUT RIVER, INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS, COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITIES, AND EDUCATION FORUMS ABOUT THE SPORT, UVRF WILL SERVE AS AN ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES DIVERSE BENEFITS TO THE REGION AS A WHOLE.

UVRF OFFERS SPRING AND FALL RACING PROGRAMS TO AREA STUDENTS IN GRADES 7-12 REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY. 40 STUDENT ATHLETES PARTICIPATED IN OUR LEBANON SPRING PROGRAM, FOR STUDENTS WHO ATTEND SCHOOLS WITHOUT A ROWING PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM RAN FROM MID-MARCH TO JUNE. 45 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATHELETES PARTICIPATED IN OUR 6-WEEK FALL CREW RACING PROGRAM, TRAINING THREE TIMES A WEEK AND ROWING IN REGIONAL RACES. ANY UPPER VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL ROWER IS WELCOME TO JOIN, WITH GENEROUS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE.
UVRF OFFERS A COMPETITIVE MASTERS PROGRAM FOR ADULT ROWERS. THE SPRING PROGRAM ATTRACTED APPROXIMATELY 30 ROWERS; THE SUMMER PROGRAM HAD 29 PARTICIPANTS; AND 28 ROWERS JOINED THE FALL PROGRAM. DURING THE PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION OFFERED VIRTUAL ERG WORKOUT PROGRAMS. THIS HAS CONTINUED IN 2022 AND THERE WERE AROUND 16 ATTENDEES FOR EACH SESSION OFFERED JANUARY TO APRIL AND 17 ATTENDEES IN THE WINTER SESSION.
IN ADDITION TO THESE COMPETETIVE PROGRAMS, THE UPPER VALLEY ROWING FOUNDATION OFFERS A VARIETY OF INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS TO ROWERS OF ALL LEVELS. NOVICE SWEEPS PROGRAM HAD 19 PARTICIPANTS AND 16 IN THE BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE SCULLING SESSION; AND THERE WERE 35 PARTICIPANTS IN SUMMER RECREATIONAL CLINICS. IN 2020, THE CREW PROGRAM WAS STARTED FOR CANCER PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS WHICH OFFERS INDOOR AND ON THE WATER PROGRAMS. THIS IS A FREE PROGRAM WHICH HAD 31 MEMBERS THIS YEAR. UVRF OFFERS A MEMBER RENTAL PROGRAM AND STORAGE OF EQUIPMENT FOR AN EXTRA FEE.
