Part 3
WE ACHIEVED A CONTINUOUS POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE ATTITUDES OF YOUTH ABOUT RISK TAKING WHILE DRIVING. HIGHWAY SAFETY EFFORTS HAVE BEEN A PRIMARY FOCUS OF OUR AGENCY. OUR EFFECTIVENESS IS EVIDENCED BY ON-GOING FUNDING FROM THE STATE OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY. ANOTHER PRIMARY FOCUS AREA IS DRUG, INCLUDING ALCOHOL, MISUSE PREVENTION. WE CONTINUE TO COORDINATE AND PARTICIPATE IN DRUG TAKE BACK DAYS HOSTED BY THE DERRY, NH POLICE DEPARTMENT. OUR WORK WITH DERRY'S COMMUNITY TELEVISION STATION CONTINUES. THEY ASSIST US IN DEVELOPING NEW MEDIA DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF YOUTH WITHIN THE GREATER DERRY COMMUNITY. WE ROUTINELY SURVEY THE COMMUNITY TO ESTABLISH PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY PRIORITIES FOR OUR YOUTH. THE SUCCESS OF THESE EFFORTS IS, IN PART, THE RESULT OF OUR ON-GOING COLLABORATION WITH THE REGIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH AGENCY. MANY OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE CARRIED OUT WITHIN THE PINKERTON ACADEMY, DERRY'S HIGH SCHOOL. THIS IS NEW HAMPSHIRE'S LARGEST INDEPENDENT HIGH SCHOOL WITH OVER 3,100 STUDENTS.
