TRAIL MONITORING PROGRAM - WE PARTNERED WITH THE KETCHUM RANGER DISTRICT AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCE CENTER TO CONDUCT THE FIRST TRAIL USE SURVEY SINCE 2012 IN THE WOOD RIVER VALLEY. WE PLACED SIX INFRARED COUNTERS ACROSS TRAILS AND TRAILHEADS ON THE KETCHUM RANGER DISTRICT TO COLLECT BASIC USER NUMBER DATA. WE ALSO CONDUCTED A QUALITATIVE SURVEY TO ASK TRAIL USERS HOW, WHY AND WHERE THEY USE TRAILS IN THE WOOD RIVER VALLEY.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - WE FACILITATE VOLUNTEER TRAIL WORK PARTIES ON FOREST SERVICE AND BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT TRAILS. DURING THESE PARTIES WE TRAIN VOLUNTEERS TO DO BASIC TRAIL MAINTENANCE, SUCH AS BRUSHING, MINOR TREAD WORK AND DRAINAGE. IN 2021 WE ORGANIZED 14 VOLUNTEER WORK PARTIES THAT INVOLVED 212 VOLUNTEERS WHO WORKED 879 HOURS.
