THE NORTH CAROLINA OPEN GOVERNMENT COALITION UNITES ORGANIZATIONS INTEREST IN ENSURING AND ENHANCING THE PUBLIC'S ACCESS TO GOVERNMENT ACTIVITY, RECORDS AND MEETINGS. THE NONPARTISAN COALITION WILL EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS AND SUPPORT THEIR EFFORTS TO GAIN ACCESS AND ADVOCATE THE PRINCIPLES AND BENEFITS OF OPEN GOVERNMENT.

THE NCOGC HELD AN ANNUAL CONFRENCE TO EDUCATE CITIZENS AND JOURNALISTS ON NEWS, OPEN RECORDS AND OPEN MEETING ISSUES. THE NCOGC ALSO SPONSORED AN OP-ED WRITING WORKSHOP TO HELP CITIZENS LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE CONCERNS ABOUT GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY. THE NCOGC OPERATED A HOTLINE FOR THE PUBLIC TO GAIN INFORMATION ABOUT OPEN GOVERNMENT INFORMATION AND ADVOCACY NEEDS.
