TO FOSTER A LIFELONG LOVE OF TENNIS AND LEARNING WITH A FOCUS ON REACHING UNDERSERVED CHILDREN AND YOUTH. RSTTA CREATES A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY THAT ENRICHES WILMINGTON'S YOUNG PEOPLE AND EMPOWERS THEM TO SUCCEED.

SUMMER TENNIS AND ENRICHMENT: RODNEY STREET'S EIGHT-WEEK PROGRAM INCLUDES TENNIS, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. EACH DAY, STUDENTS RECEIVE A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AND LUNCH, PARTICIPATE IN TENNIS DRILLS AND GAMES, AND ENGAGE IN ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES. DURING THE AFTERNOON, STUDENTS RECEIVE ACADEMIC SUPPORT FROM OUR INSTRUCTORS AND PARTICIPATE IN AN S.T.E.A.M. CURRICULUM. IN ADDITION, OUR STUDENTS HEAR FROM GUEST SPEAKERS AND GO ON FIELD TRIPS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THEIR COMMUNITY AND THEMSELVES. THROUGH OUR TENNIS COMPONENTS, WE MEASURE BOTH TENNIS SKILLS AND FITNESS LEVELS.
ON THE RISE: THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF RODNEY STREET'S ON THE RISE PROGRAM ARE TO (1) DEVELOP POSITIVE LIFE SKILLS THAT WILL HELP STUDENTS SUCCEED IN AND OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL; (2) FOSTER STUDENTS' APPRECIATION OF AND COMMITMENT TO TENNIS, HEALTH, AND NUTRITION; AND (3) PARTNER WITH EACH SCHOOL/CENTER TO EXPAND THE SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY THAT ENCOURAGES THE GROWTH AND SUCCESS OF EACH STUDENT. RODNEY STREET PARTNERED WITH OVER A DOZEN SCHOOLS AND REACHED OVER 2000 STUDENTS.
ALL STARS: RODNEY STREET OFFERS ADDITIONAL LESSONS TO YOUTH THAT EXPRESS INTEREST AND DISPLAY INNATE TALENT FOR THE SPORT OF TENNIS FROM THEIR PARTICIPATION IN ON THE RISE PROGRAMMING. STUDENTS TAKE PART IN INTENSIVE TENNIS AND LIFE SKILLS CLINICS ONCE EACH WEEK.
TEEN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENTRODNEYSTREET WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES SOFT SKILLS TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE TO YOUTH 14-18 YEARS OF AGE. RODNEYSTREET IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH DHSS AS A SITE PLACEMENT FOR THE STATE WORK READY PROGRAM. EACH COHORT COMPRISES UP TO 15 TEENS WHO PRACTICE SKILLS THAT PREPARE THEM FOR THE WORKFORCE AND BEYOND, INCLUDING: COMMUNICATION, ADAPTABILITY, LEADERSHIP, TEAMWORK, TIME MANAGEMENT.
