CRYPTONITE TEAM 624 WAS COMPOSED OF 55 STUDENTS AND VOLUNTEER PARENTS AND MENTORS WHO COME TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THE YEARLY FIRST ROBOTICS CHALLENGE AND COLLABORATE TO ENHANCE OUR COMMUNITY. APPROXIMATELY 25% OF THE STUDENT MEMBERSHIP IS FEMALE. THE 5 GRADUATING SENIORS PLAN TO ATTEND COLLEGE WITH FOUR OF THOSE WORKING TOWARDS A STEM DEGREE AND THE 5TH ATTENDING A 5 YEAR MEDICAL SCHOOL. CRYPTONITE COMPETES IN TEH FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION, OR FRC. THIS SEASON WAS UNAFFECTED BY THE COVID VIRUS AND ALLOWED THE TEAM TO CARRY OUT NORMAL TRAINING AND BUILD ACTIVITIES AT THE KATY ISD ROBERT SHAW CENTER. THE TEAM COMPETED IN TWO TEXAS UIL DISTRICT EVENTS AT WACO AND HOUSTON (1ST PLACE) AND QUALIFIED FOR THE TEXAS STATE UIL CHAMPIONSHIP IN HOUSTON. THE TEAM WON THE "DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP MERCURY DIVISION WINNER" AND THE "UIL AWARD STATE SECOND RUNNER-UP" FOR OUR SECOND PLACE IN THE OVERALL TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. THEY ALSO WON THE "AUTONOMOUS AWARD" SPONSORED BY FORD FOR OUR CONSISTENT, RELIABLE, HIGH PERFORMANCE OPERATION DURING AUTOMOUSLY MANAGED ACTIONS. THIS WAS OUR SECOND AUTONOMOUS AWARD FOR THE SEASON! TEAM 624 ALSO COMPETED IN THE FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP HELD IN THE GEORGE R. BROWN CONFERENCE CENTER WITH 600 OTHER TEAMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND AGAIN WAS AWARDED THE "AUTONOMOUS AWARD" IN THEIR 80 TEAM DIVISION FOR EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE IN THE FIRST 15 SECONDS OF THE MATCH.
